Each week at Lexis Byron Bay we have Coffee Club! Mondays at 2pm and Tuesdays at 11.30am
It’s a great place to relax and have a coffee and a TimTam.
It’s also fun to play Uno with everyone’s different rules from all the different countries!
It’s also a great time to have a photo opportunity 📷
See you next time Monday at 2pm and Tuesday at 11.30am!

Today our Happy Student at Lexis Byron Bay is Lucia!
Tell us a little about yourself Lucia: I’m from Spain. Before coming to Byron I worked on my family’s sheep farm. I always wanted to learn English because I like to travel and it is a universal language. I’ve been here almost 2 months and I have one more month left. Then I will travel along the coast of New South Wales before returning to Spain.
Why did you choose Byron Bay? Because I don’t like I cities. I live in the countryside. That’s why I chose Byron Bay.
What were your weaknesses in English before you came to Australia? Tell me more about your teachers and your classes. Before coming to Australia, my weaknesses were listening and speaking English.
My teachers try to help me with listening and talk in class more often.
What was your favourite activity? I think my favourite activity is the afternoon yoga classes, because you end the day relaxed.
Tell me about your accommodation/homestay… I have lived in a hostel since I arrived and I think I will continue until I leave Byron.
What are your favourite things to do in Byron? I like to walk around without tall buildings and without the noise of a city. I like to walk along the beach with few people. I also like to take walks to the lighthouse.
What is your most magical moment in Byron? My most magical moment in Byron… when I climb to see the sunrise at the lighthouse.
What did you like the most about Lexis Byron? What I liked most about this school is the small groups of students. It is good to have playful activities and games to assimilate the lessons.
What is your advice for people who are thinking about enrolling at Lexis Byron Bay? My advice is to not think about it, to do it and enjoy it. It is an experience for a lifetime.

Today we unfortunately had to cancel the Beach Picnic due to the weather! As sad as it was to cancel this mornings activity, it was a much needed respite to have rain in Byron Bay ⛈️
However we did have an Indoor Picnic instead!
Not many people showed up because of the rain, though a student who was walking past came inside for a little snack 😋
He was the instigator that lured others to join in!
Soon enough a class had turned up 🙈
Thankfully their teacher was understanding and for a few short minutes used this time as part of a lesson!
Today didn’t turn out as expected, nevertheless we still had fun!

We had our weekly Coffee Club today at Lexis Byron Bay!☕
And we have our nice little routine down pat these days!
What we do:
we put the kettle on and boil the water
we set the tea cups and mugs on the table
we arrange the different flavours of tea and coffee
and then assemble Jenga and Uno!
It’s a safe and fun environment to practice your English skills and to meet new people 🙂
If you want to join us next week Coffee Club is on Monday 2pmand Tuesday 11.30am!

Recently we’ve introduced Coffee Club on a Monday afternoon at Lexis Byron Bay! ☕
Or in Christian’s case today, ‘tea time’. He even had his little pinky finger out for the occasion 😋
Fabian joined in with a coffee.
And Eglantine had a mocha for the first time with us. She doesn’t usually like coffee, though this one was okay because it had chocolate in it too! 🍫
The game of choice today was Jenga with the questions on each piece.
There were fiery conversations about some of the topics that came up! Examples that stirred debate we’re about politics and the death penalty. However, it was nicer to speak about trivial subject matters like our dream holiday destination or our favourite flavours of ice-cream! 🍦
Join us tomorrow morning at 11.30am for Coffee Club!

We had Coffee Club again today at Lexis Byron Bay! ☕
Students came purposely to practice their English!
Melissa: “I decided to come to coffee club today because I want to practice my English skills. It’s so easy to speak with other people from my own language, though I want to improve so that is why I came” 😊
Melissa tried a TimTam for the first time today!
Lucia tried a TimTam Slam for the first time today!
After the TimTam experiences we played Jenga with converstational questions on the pieces and laughed the rest of the morning 😁

Today our Happy Student at Lexis Byron Bay is Celine!
Tell us a little about yourself Celine:
I am from Switzerland and I did an apprenticeship in a hotel at the reception. I want to learn English for my study. I am staying in Byron Bay for 6 weeks.
Why did you choose Byron Bay?
It is funny actually, I had a friend come here in May this year and recommended it to me. I’m so happy she did!
What were your weaknesses in English before you came to Australia? Tell me more about your teachers and your classes.
Maybe I think I struggle with vocabulary. I would like to learn more words, different words.
My teacher is Paul and he is just the best! He and the class is always fun! I actually like to go to school 😊
What was your favourite activity?
Oh! I think I liked jewellery making!
Tell me about your accomodation/homestay…
Accomodation is okay. To me I think it is small, but it is okay 😋
What are your favourite things to do in Byron?
There are so many things that I like to do in Byron! I like the town and having coffee in town. I like the bars in the nighttime and the fun atmosphere. I also like the surf at Tallows.
What is your most magical moment in Byron? This happened yesterday! I was talking on facetime with my friend back home and all the people I was with knew her! They knew my friend! It’s a small world.
What did you like the most about Lexis Byron?
What I like most is the people, and how the people all have real connections with each other.
What is your advice for people who are thinking about enrolling at Lexis Byron Bay? Do it! Because I did and took someone elses advice. You can learn English and you can learn to surf. I think it’s just good to learn, and it is an easy place.

What do you get when you play Uno with Italians, Swiss and Aussies?
You get interesting and loud house rules!
Can you tell who had a good hand in this round?

Of course we had Tim-Tams and coffee while playing too 🙂

It was our weekly Coffee Club today at Lexis Byron Bay! ☕
The tea of choice today was lemon and ginger 🍋
It is always a popular choice when students aren’t feeling well.
Jenga was also on the agenda today.
Look at the concentration on Amin’s face!
Building the tower and answering the questions on the jenga set is a great way to get to know each other and practice English skills in a safe place.
Hope to see you all again next week with our new coffee set up!

Nearing the beginning of Summer, it’s a hot start to the morning for our Coffee Club here at Lexis Byron Bay! ☕
Discussions were had about the fires surrounding Byron Bay and NSW, and just how hot it is already even though it’s still Spring! This naturally led to conversations about how it’s currently Autumn/ Fall in the Northern Hemisphere where many of the students are from.
Inbetween topics of conversations Tim-Tams were had! They were good even once they started to melt 😋
Thanks for coming along and sharing your weekend stories 😊 Hope to see you next week for Coffee Club!

On Tuesdays we have Coffee Club at Lexis Byron Bay!
We decided not to play Uno this week because it was so windy outside and we thought that the cards might blow away 🃏🌪️
Though Tim-Tams and hot tea went down a treat!
Join us next week when hopefully the weather is better 🙂

We had Coffee Club this morning down stairs in the common area! Of course the Tim-Tams didn’t last long 😋
We played an intense game of Uno. It was interesting playing against others who grew up with different rules to the game 😁
It got a little bit competitive!
Then we ended with a bang playing ‘Get-to-know-you’ Jenga 💥

Yesterday afternoon was our first Coffee Club of Spring! To celebrate, we took our tim tams and coffee’s down to the beach to soak up the beautiful sunshine.
Lucky for us, our campus is only a 10 minute walk to Byron Bay’s Main Beach. We walked and talked about all the things we love about living in such a beautiful town.
Thanks guys for a lovely afternoon and the hilarious games of Uno. Join us every Tuesday at 2pm for great conversations and lots of laugh’s 😀

Coffee Club is always the highlight of my week! We have been lucky enough to have some stunning winter days in Byron Bay lately. This Tuesday was no exception!
We played a hilarious game of Uno on the grass before getting too hot in the sun and deciding to move under the shade to play a game of Jenga also.
Make sure you come along and join the fun, every Tuesday afternoon at 2pm in the student garden. I’ll bring the Tim Tams! See you there 😀

It was a chilly Tuesday afternoon for Coffee Club yesterday, but lucky for us, we were still able to sit in the student garden and make the most of the sunshine!
However, we did have to move our mat a couple of times as the sun disappeared behind the trees, but it was good to get up and stretch our legs after each incredibly long game of uno 🙂
We played around 4 games in total, each one finishing in a battle to the end. It was hilarious to watch play out. At the end of each game Luc had a new suggestion for a rule that kept the games very interesting. Thanks Luc 🙂
See you all again next Tuesday for more fun and of course tim-tams!

It was a great turn out for this weeks coffee club! We had our usual selection of delicious coffee’s and of course everyone’s favourite, Tim Tams.
It was nice to have a catch up with everyone about their weekend and life in Byron. Then we got stuck in to a very serious game of Jenga.
Lexis Jenga is exceptionally fun because each block piece has a question on it so we can all get to know each other better whilst we play.
Serious concentration was required.
Then it was Talita’s turn …. the moment it all came crashing down!
So we played another round while we continued to sip our coffee’s..
Until it was Talita’s turn again…
Haha sorry Talita, but thank you for making us all laugh!! 🙂
Coffee Club happens outside the student lounge every Tuesday at 2pm. Come and join us to chat with new friends and of course, for coffee and Tim Tams!

We gathered this afternoon for our last coffee club of the month. It was the perfect warm afternoon to sit under the shelter downstairs as it began to rain.
Today we played a few rather intense games of Jenga and had a laugh at all the questions printed on the blocks. It was a fun way to get to know each other and prompted some very funny stories 🙂
We also attempted to do a ‘TIM TAM SLAM’.. unfortunately it didn’t go so well.. But that’s okay, it was still delicious!
To do a professional Tim Tam Slam, we realised, requires a refrigerated Tim Tam. First you need to (gently) bite off each end of the biscuit. Keeping the biscuit intact you then use the Tim Tam like a straw to drink your coffee or tea. Today the biscuits were too melted. We will try again next week!
Come and join us every Tuesday at 2pm for Coffee Club (Tim Tam club) downstairs in the student lounge. Hope to see you there!

Yesterday morning, we gathered outside the student lounge for some morning coffee, Tim Tams, chats and a very fun and informative game of Jenga!
Thankfully, the sun is back, so we really enjoyed sitting outside in the fresh Byron air. We had some good debates over some of the questions put to us by our Jenga blocks…
Serious game faces here… 🙂
Don’t forget to come and find us again next week (every Tuesday at 11.30am and 2pm) outside the student lounge for more of the above and beyond! 🙂

There was some incredible Jenga-tower-building today at Coffee Lounge! Thanks to Jeannine the “Jenga Extraordinaire” for joining me. It was a lovely afternoon of chatting, Tim Tams and balancing!
Trying to balance the Jenga wobbles…
…and failing!
The most important thing is that we had a fun time, and got to eat Tim Tams! 🙂

Today Jeannine and Nam-Yi joined Laura and myself (Megan) at Coffee Club for some coffee, Tim Tams and Lexis Jenga. We tackled questions about dream holidays, our favourite foods and childhood memories.
Jeannine made the first tower fall and successfully completed the challenge of giving a kiss on the hand of someone not playing the game – without speaking to them first!
After a longer second round with a VERY tall and wobbly tower, it was eventually toppled by the wind, so nobody had to complete a challenge for that round!
Lexis Jenga was a fun way for me to get to know more students at Lexis. I look forward to playing games at Coffee Club with you all in the weeks to come!
