Florence is from Switzerland. She’s had lots of experience in the travel and tourism industry. She was always fascinated about getting to know other cultures and dreamt of foreign places. SUNDAY MARKETS – Alice Beatrizotti & Bruna Andriolli

Flowers

Once a month in Byron Bay close to the beach there is a market where you can find whatever you want.

The prices are quite high, but you can be sure that the quality of the product is high as well. Silver earrings made by hand, ceramics cups for coffee, food from all over the world, organic fabric clothes, and so on.

MArkets

Every Saturday you can also find garage sales or people sitting on the street selling their second-hand clothes. If you are looking for a second-hand wetsuit, there you can find one for 5$!

Garage sale 2

Nobody is excluded in the Byron Bay community, everybody can do something useful and feel part of this big family.

The Environment – Adrienne’s Native Speaker Class!

This week in Adrienne’s Native Speaker class the topic was the environment. Students discussed what they thought the most discerning issue for them was and the general consensus was plastics.
As part of this class, the students went off campus and collected as much rubbish as they could. Some walked to the beach and others walked to the soccer fields. All together the students collected 6 large bags of rubbish!
What a success!

Market Day with Kristy’s Upper-Intermediate class! December 12th

Off to the market!  A magic bus, amazing students, smiles on dials and a bit of spare change in the pocket: what more do we need?  Oh, that’s right, a perfectly sunshiny Byron Bay day 🙂

Have a read of the reviews written by our awesome Upper Intermediate class:

Epic Market Day
We were at the market today and we took a cool bus. It was like a 10-minute ride and I enjoyed the view from the top deck.
There were different kinds of market stalls where you could buy fresh vegetables and fruit as well as different dips and juices.
During the whole market, two musicians were playing music. The sun shone upon our heads and after a while, we looked for protection under a tent, where we ate the delicious food we bought.
In conclusion, the morning was well spent and we really recommend the market if you like fresh and delicious food! – Celine and Dario

Today we went to the farmers market with our English class. We took a beautiful flowery bus that cost two dollars.
It was a nice place to have a good coffee and the best muffins around Byron Bay. Furthermore, we can find the best fresh vegetables and flowers.
Then, after having walked around the entire market, we spoke with a German girl who sells vegetables and fruits. She was really friendly and happy to speak to us.
Finally, we recommend taking a hat because it was really hot! – Maria Laura

Farmers Market
We have just taken a really nice bus to go to the market. Our teacher told us that the bus will be free but in the end we had to pay 2 dollars.
We were on the bus for 10 minutes and then we arrived at the markets. There were a lot of food stalls.
First we bought an escargot from a bakery and a smoothie from a juice stall. It tasted very good. Then we walked past the stalls. We tried some dips with chips and fruit. We had a nice conversation with the woman at the passionfruit stall. She explained the difference between the cheaper passionfruits and the expensive ones. The passionfruit which were cheap weren’t so good looking.
Then we talked to the man at the dip stall. We talked about the tasty pesto dip and then we were listening to the live musicians and gave them some money because the music was beautiful. We hope they will be famous soon!
The time passed very fast because the market was amazing. Then we had to take the same bus to go back to school and now we are sitting in our classroom and have to write this blog. – Christian and Lya

Today we went to the Byron Bay Farmers Market. The colourful bus took us right there which was very useful.
At the market, we experienced a very good atmosphere and a farmer even gave us some bananas for free.
There were a lot of things to see and try. our favourite was the fresh-pressed sugar cane juice with passionfruit and lime.
We saw all kinds of people, young people, old people, but no dogs as they are not allowed in the market.
We have a good message for everybody who spent too much money at the market, there is an ATM on the spot!
The farmers really seemed to enjoy their job which inspired us.
After these good experiences, we went back to school with the same bus and a big bag of passionfruits. – Kazuya and Mathieu

We’ve now added a new yoga session to our weekly activities calendar. If you’re unable to make the Monday 7:45am class then you can now try the Tuesday 5:45pm class!
These are free activities that we put on exclusively for our Lexis students.

Tuesday’s class is taught by the lovely Brooklyn and was slow and strong!

Classroom 4 made the perfect yoga environment and the afternoon light was pretty good too!

We love it when students get involved and thanks to everyone who showed up. Hope to see you next week!
