Graduation!! 27 October

This week we say a sad farewell to 11 lovely students.

Elementary – Teacher: Michelle

Reo and Kento, both from Japan, leave the Elementary class this week.

Reo was only at Lexis for 8 weeks but his progress has been outstanding. When her arrived at school he found it very difficult to have even the most basic conversation but now he is able to talk to anybody! Michelle said that they will miss his smiley face in class and hope that he can find a fun job in Australia and enjoy the rest of his time here.

 

Kento was only her in Byron Bay for two weeks, although he was in Lexis Noosa beforehand. Michelle said that Kento participated well in all activities and his speaking and confidence improved during his short time here. Kento is leaving Byron Bay to start a new job on the Gold Coast.

Pre-Intermediate 1 – Teacher: Harriett

Pre-Intermediate 1 say farewell to Fabio (Italy) and Nicole (Switzerland) this week. Both students have been at Lexis for 8 weeks.

Fabio started in Elementary and then moved into Pre-Intermediate after six weeks. His teachers (Michelle and now Harriett) said that he is a very kind person with a great sense of humour. Also, that he had a great attitude to learning and participated in all the class conversations.

Nicole’s teachers said that she is very friendly and easy to converse with. In particular, her English speaking and pronunciation are excellent and she shows great enthusiasm for learning. Nicole will now be travelling in Australia so will have plenty of opportunity to practice the English she’s learned.

Pre-Intermediate 2 – Teacher: Adrienne

Three students are leaving Pre-Intermediate 2 this week: Lucio and Alessandra from Brazil and Fabio from Switzerland. All three students studied at Lexis Byron Bay for four weeks.

Adrienne praised Alessandra for her contributions in class and her ability to self-correct. She also said that she is a great language learner because she is not shy to try to give an answer or read out a sentence and always keen to learn. Alessandra will definitely be missed from the class.

Mario, Alessandra’s husband, leaves with grade “A” despite finding the class speaking activities quite difficult at first. Adrienne said that she is very impressed with his progress and knows that he will continue to sail forward.

Fabio was described as easy-going and fun to have in the classroom and Adrienne said she would be sad to lose him from the class. He always had something to contribute and asked great questions. He also graduates with a grade “A”.

Intermediate 2 – Teacher: Kathleen

Kathleen’s class loses two students this week. Svetlana from Switzerland, who has been at Lexis for eight weeks and Fuku from Japan, who has only been here for two.

Svetlana’s grammar knowledge improved significantly during her time at the school and she graduates with a “A” grade (meaning she scored 84% or more on her last four weekly tests). Kathleen said that it was a pleasure to have her in class because of her excellent participation and her strong conversational skills.

As for Fuko, even though she has only been at Lexis for two weeks, she has made a big impression. Kathleen said that her grammar and vocabulary knowledge were great and that she has been able to communicate really well and fluently with all her classmates. All the class enjoyed hearing about some of her life experiences!!!

Upper Intermediate – Teacher: Claudia

The Upper Intermediate class is losing the lovely Unai, this week. Unai, from Spain has been at Lexis for four weeks and has been a conscientious student who has participated very well in class. Claudia said his contributions and enthusiasm really added to the dynamics of the class and that they all wished him the very best for the future.

CAE – Teacher: Josie

Pascale leaves CAE this week after 8 weeks at Lexis Byron Bay. Although Pascale hadn’t initially signed up for CAE, her placement test showed her to be perfect for this exam preparation class and the exam. Josie said that her command of the English language is very good and she has proved herself to be very competent across all skill areas. She has also been a cheerful, engaged and conscientious student, who Josie said has been a pleasure to teach. Pascale will take her CAE examination in Melbourne, while she is travelling and we wish her all the best.

Congratulations to our eight students graduating from Lexis Byron Bay today!

Helder, from Brazil, graduates from Claudia and Kathleen’s Upper Intermediate class. He has been a real pleasure to have here at Lexis Byron Bay. His contributions to class discussions were always greatly appreciated and his level of English grammar has improved noticeably since he joined us 8 weeks ago. He has also been a brilliant participant in our out of class activities, most notably captaining Lexis soccer team in their winning match against SAE college and being April’s Table Tennis champion! We will miss you Helder!

Laura, from Spain, graduates from Claudia and Kathleen’s Upper Intermediate class. Her enthusiasm and participation really added to the dynamics of the class. She has been a conscientious student and always contributed very well to class discussions. Even more impressive than this, she manages to keep Oliver, one of our more unruly students , in check! She was also the winner of May’s poker tournament! We will miss you Laura, it has been an absolute pleasure having you here at Lexis!

Bruno, from Brazil, graduates from Mel and Adrienne’s class. He has come a very long way since joining Lexis last year, moving up from Elementary to Intermediate. He always had a big smile on his face and a positive attitude, which made him popular with his fellow Lexis students and staff. We hope to have you back here with us soon for our Business Course!

Yoko, from Japan, graduates from Mel and Adrienne’s class. She has been such a joy to have here with us at Lexis and we’ve seen her confidence grow so much as she’s made friends with many of her fellow students. She was a delightful contribution to the class with her lovely personality and smile. Everyone her will miss you and your laugh!

Satomi, from Japan, graduates from Mel and Adrienne’s class. She was only here with us at Lexis for 1 week but it was still a pleasure to meet her and have her in class. We hope you enjoyed your time in Byron Bay and maybe come back and study with us again one day! Best wishes for the future!

Elena, from Sweden, graduates from Mel and Adrienne’s class. She has been the perfect student and her lovely personality has made her a pleasure to have in class and around campus. She made lots of friends in her short time here and will be missed by many people. We hope you come back and study with us soon!

Tae, from Japan, graduates from Mel and Adrienne’s class. As well as our English classes she also participated in one of our English in Action courses which includes 4 surf lessons a week. We hope you enjoyed both and your short time in Byron Bay. Best wishes for the future!

Andrea, from Brazil, graduates from Ellie and Anji’s IELTs class. She first joined us here at Lexis in 2014 and has worked incredibly hard to progress from Elementary through to Intermediate and then into the IELTs preparation class. Her speaking and technique have improved immensely and her range of vocabulary continues to increase. We wish you the very best with your recent test and will see you around campus!

Cambridge Graduation! November 25

Congratulations to our Cambridge students! After three months of studying hard, their time at Lexis Byron Bay has come to an end. Good luck in your exams next week!

Josie’s FCE class

Beni is from Switzerland. He has made great progress over the last few months studying the Cambridge course. He has improved across all areas and is always trying to incorporate new vocabulary and grammar into his writing and speaking. His writing is at a high level with a good style which makes it interesting to read. He is a relaxed and friendly student with a positive attitude towards learning and has been a pleasure to have in class.

Vanessa is  from Switzerland. She has shown great progress during her time at Lexis Byron Bay with improvements in all areas of her English skills. She is able to apply her knowledge of vocabulary and grammar to all areas of English, in particular with her writing. She has a lovely smile and giggle that brightened the class.

Nicole H is from Switzerland. She grasps new grammar concepts with ease and has improved a lot during her time studying the Cambridge course. She speaks clearly and naturally, using a wide range of vocabulary and colloquial expressions. She is a quick learner, a hard worker and brings a positive attitude to class.

Flurina is from Switzerland. She has worked really hard during her time at Lexis Byron Bay which has resulted in her making excellent progress with her English. Her listening and reading skills were great from the start of the course and continued to improve. She put a lot of effort into her writing and use of English and has shown great improvement in these areas as a result. She has great accuracy with her speaking, an excellent grasp of grammar and has enhanced her ability to express herself in conversation. She has a great energy that positively contributed to the class.

Laetitia is from Switzerland. She has made great improvements to her English skills, particularly excelling in her reading and use of English skills. She has good reading comprehension and a firm grasp of grammar knowledge which she is able to apply to other areas of English use. She made a great effort to speak English outside of class, which helped her to improve her English across all skill areas.

Nicole S is from Switzerland. She has put a lot of effort into her studies and shown great motivation during her time at Lexis Byron Bay. She has improved in her general use of English and achieved the highest result in class in this area. She has a great attitude to learning and was a valued member of the class.

Ayuko is from Japan. She is a hard-working student who has made great progress in all areas of her English skills throughout the Cambridge course. She has become more confident in speaking both one-on-one and in a group. She has a really lovely attitude and has been a pleasure to teach in class.

Philipp is from Switzerland. He has made excellent improvements in his English skills, particularly in applying his new grammar and vocabulary knowledge to his writing and speaking. He is able to make himself understood using clear and grammatically correct language while speaking. He has a good attitude to learning English which will help him to continue improving.

Ivan is from Switzerland. He has made great progress over the past few months at Lexis Byron Bay. He shows a lot of effort in applying new vocabulary and grammar into his writing and speaking. He always has a positive attitude and a big smile in class which has made him a pleasure to teach.

Stefan is from Switzerland. He has shown excellent improvement in all areas of his English skills. He has an aptitude for applying the vocabulary and grammar that he has learnt to all areas of English. He puts in a lot of effort to his studies which is reflected in his good results. His speaking skills are excellent and he is able to have a natural discussion and make himself clearly understood. His excellent attitude to learning English was appreciated in class!

Jarvis is from Germany. He is an intelligent, hardworking student with a great attitude to learning. He has quickly learnt the new grammar and vocabulary presented during the Cambridge course and is able to apply it for general use. He is an excellent listener and has a good memory for what he has learnt in class. All of this has made him a pleasure to teach.

Ronja is from Switzerland. She has made fantastic progress throughout the Cambridge course. She is able to express herself well in English and uses a wide range of vocabulary and grammar in her writing. She was a lovely student to have in class.

Katharina is from Switzerland. She has been lovely to teach as she brings her bright personality and big smile to class. She has participated well in class activities and discussions and has put in a lot of effort to her studies over the duration of the course. She has an excellent ability to express herself and has shown a marked improvement in all areas, especially her English writing skills.

Pascal is from Switzerland. He brings a great attitude to class and is a keen learner. He has participated wonderfully in class activities and discussions. He showed a lot of improvement in all areas of his English skills, particularly with writing.

Robin is from Switzerland. He has an excellent natural ability in English and has made good improvement across all skills areas during his time at Lexis Byron Bay. He has worked hard and particularly improved his writing and speaking skills. His happy and gentle nature was a welcome addition to the class.

David is from Switzerland. He has a bright personality and bubbly nature which has been a lovely addition to the class. He has an excellent ability to express himself clearly, with great speaking skills, and has made good progress with his writing skills. He is an inquisitive and intelligent student who has been a pleasure to have in class.

Andrea is from Switzerland. He has been an absolute pleasure to have in class. His command of the English language is at a high level and has shown himself to be competent across all skill areas. He has made colourful contributions to activities and discussions, and brought a great lively nature to the class.

Patrick is from Switzerland. He is a conscientious student who has a high level of grammar and vocabulary skills, and has improved his writing skills. He has been a pleasure to have in class and has made interesting contributions to class activities and discussions. He has a positive outlook which has been a welcome part of the classroom.

Caroline is from Switzerland. She is a diligent student who has worked hard throughout her Cambridge course. She has good English skills and an strong aptitude for learning, which has helped her to make great progress during her time at Lexis Byron Bay. She asks intelligent questions and worthwhile contributions to class activities and discussions.

Tamara is from Switzerland. She is a focused student who has put in a lot of effort over the past twelve weeks, which is reflected in her excellent results. She is an enthusiastic participant in class activities and discussions. She is a keen learner with a consistent desire to refine and perfect her English skills, which has helped her to dramatically improve her writing skills and grasp new  vocabulary.

Emanuela is from Italy. She is a conscientious student who works very hard to achieve great results. She has a bright disposition and her sunny nature has lightened up the classroom. She has a keen interest in learning and is an active participant in class activities and discussions. She has been an absolute delight to teach.

Belinda is  from Germany. She is a conscientious student who has worked incredibly hard over the past twelve weeks. She has excellent vocabulary and grammar skills and has dramatically improved her writing skills. She is an active participant in class activities and discussions and brings a wonderful positive outlook to the class.

Celine is from Switzerland. She is a hard working student who always comes to class ready to learn. She writes well and speaks fluently in English. Over the past three months at Lexis Byron Bay she has made great improvements to all areas of her English skills.

Pauline is from Switzerland. She works hard and as a result has improved a lot while studying the Cambridge course. She speaks fluently and writes well in English. She is a very determined, respectful student who asks questions that further her understanding of the English language.

Morgane is from Switzerland. She has worked really hard and has made great improvements to her English skills over the past few months in the Cambridge course. She speaks English fluently and makes valuable  contributions to class discussions.

Sina is from Switzerland. She is an enthusiastic learner and a pleasure to teach. She is an excellent communicator who speaks English fluently. She has worked hard during her time at Lexis Byron Bay and this has resulted in her making great improvements to her English skills.

Juliano is from Brazil. He has shown himself to be an intelligent person with a good work ethic. He grasps new concepts quickly, is an excellent communicator and has improved a lot. He has been a respectful learner and a pleasure to teach over the past few months.

Carole is from Switzerland. She is a very intelligent student who speaks English fluently and writes very well. She has improved her English skills a lot due to her hard work during her time at Lexis Byron Bay.

Nicole is from Switzerland. She works very hard in class, has great attendance and is a pleasure to teach. She speaks English fluently and writes beautifully. Her confidence in speaking and using English has grown in her time here as her English skills improved.

Yuka is from Japan. She is the student who made the most improvement during her time in the Cambridge course. This was due to her determination to speak only English while she was studying. She is a highly motivated learner and a respectful student.

Graduation! October 21

We have five students graduating from Lexis Byron Bay this week.

dominique

Dominique is from Switzerland and graduates from Kathleen’s Intermediate class. When he arrived, Dominique had a good knowledge of English grammar but little confidence in speaking and listening, especially when trying to understand the Australian accent. Over his four weeks here, he was (in his teacher’s words) a teacher’s dream! He attended all his classes, he came to class on time and he worked hard to improve and learn. He has made great improvement with his English, particularly in building his confidence in speaking and has a great ability to explain words to other students. Dominique came to Lexis Byron Bay on the English in Action – Surfing course, so he not only improved his English but also learnt to surf during his time here! He is now heading straight back to Switzerland this weekend and will be back at work by Monday. We hope to see you back in Australia again one day!

Maria is from Spain and graduates from Iruka’s Intermediate class. She studied at Lexis Byron Bay for 12 weeks and showed great improvement in her English skills over that time. She has very good writing and grammar skills and achieved excellent results, finishing with an overall A grade. She is now off to do some travel in Australia before returning to Spain. We hope you enjoy the rest of your travels!

Manuel is from Switzerland and graduates from Ellie and Anji’s IELTS class. He has been a very intelligent and wonderful student. He brings a lot of enthusiasm, smiles and laughter to the class as well as showing a high aptitude for the English language. Manuel studied the English in Action – Surfing course at Lexis Byron Bay, which gave him the opportunity to not only improve his English, but also his surfing skills too! He is now heading back to Switzerland this weekend and back to work next week. We hope to see you back in Byron Bay one day!

Kazumi is from Japan and graduates from Iruka’s Intermediate class. She has worked hard and has shown great improvement during her time here at Lexis Byron Bay. In particular, her English writing and grammar skills are improving more and more every week. Kazumi is staying in Byron Bay and we are sure we will see her around town!

Liu is from China and graduates from Kristy’s Pre-Intermediate class. He has been a pleasure to have in class for the past two weeks. He has done very well in that time and is beginning to understand English grammar forms and how to use them. He hopes to stay in Australia with his family and to one day be able to speak both English and Chinese with his daughter. We hope to see you back at Lexis Byron Bay to help you continue to improve your English skills!

We have three students graduating from Lexis Byron Bay this week.

Jaeeun graduates from the Intermediate class.

Jaeeun is from Korea and graduates from Paul’s Intermediate class. She has been a pleasure to teach and is a respectful student. She has worked hard during her time here and has made great improvements with her English. Well done Jaeeun!

Victoria is from Spain and graduates from Ellie’s Upper Intermediate class. She has been a lovely student and a great contributor to class discussions. She has improved her English during her time here and has developed her excellent speaking skills. All the best Victorita!

Eunice is from Korea and graduates from Mel and Becky’s Elementary class. She worked well in class and has now moved up to Brisbane to look for work. Good luck for the future Eunice!
