The festive spirit was alive and well at Lexis Byron Bay this morning when we did Christmas Cookie Decorating!
We had a Christmas playlist made on Spotify in the background playing while we decorated our cookies.
Ingredients used:
cookies/ biscuits
icing sugar
butter
water
cherries
sour worms
pretzels
desiccated coconut
sprinkles
smarties
chocolate buttons
Students were creative in what designs they made! Some examples were:
Christmas trees
stars
hearts
gingerbread men
snowmen
baubles
lights
Christmas wreaths
Christmas puddings
reindeers
It was a messy and yummy morning!

So it was the campout at the weekend …. the group had an awesome time despite a few showers here and there.
Plenty of kangaroos hanging around the campsite for students to watch and take great pictures…
Learning to fish was a highlight …
The boys also caught a few crabs. They look very please with themselves
Drinking games, National Park walks, paddle boarding, a tour of Yamba and exploring the sand caves…..

What a weekend!! We took a group of students to the Gold Coast, firstly stopping at Australias largest outlet shopping centre, Harbour Town.
We then grabbed some beers and headed to Surfers Paradise for the Live Music Festival.
Some of Australias biggest bands were playing, the HOODOO GURUS, DARYL BRAITHWAITE & THIRSTY MERC, to name a few.
The group had an awesome time. Grabbing some great bargains at the shopping centre and listening to some awesome Aussie old school music.
Sunday- Nimbin Mardi Gras Festival
Nimbin Mardi Gras festival was pumping this weekend and a couple of the LEXIS students went on the Happy Coach down to Nimbin to enjoy the festivities.
The Happy Coach stopped off at some cool locations before arriving at Nimbin for a spectacular event full of colour, wonderful people, music and culture.

It is with much sadness I will be leaving my job as Activities and Student Services Officer at Lexis next week 🙁
I have had an AMAZING 2 years with the school and have made lots of brilliant memories <3 More than this, I have met so many lovely, incredible, interesting people and made great friendships that I know will last beyond me working here.
It has been a huge amount of fun running the activities; wine & cheese tasting being a favourite, but not forgetting… skateboarding, slacklining, cooking, coffee clubs, volleyball at the beach, bake sales for charities, jewellery making, and sometimes I’ve even enjoyed doing the BBQs for 100 hungry students (only when helped by Eric!)!
The two best things about this job though…
Meeting and helping students from all over the world; it has been so rewarding <3 I have really enjoyed learning about other cultures and am now lucky enough to have friends to visit in lots of countries!
The wonderful team I got to work with every day <3
Thank you to everyone who has made this a fantastic place to work and an unforgettable experience. A special thank you to Lisa and Koko, two amazing ladies it has been a pleasure to work alongside every day.
It wasn’t an easy decision to leave somewhere that has brought me so much happiness, but I felt it was time for me to try something new! I will still be in Byron so will probably still see lots of you (normally in Woolworths or at the Rails!), and feel free to message me to meet for coffee or cocktails! Much love <3

Yesterday we enjoyed free bodyboard hire, courtesy of the wonderful team at Let’s Go Surfing!
The students were having too much fun getting ready to go into the water that by time they’d sun-creamed up, I’d taken some photos and Lara had thrown some sand around, it was time for me to head back to school!
I managed to get one quick shot of them in the water before leaving them in the safety of the lifeguard zone. I can imagine there was just as much laughter in the water as there was out of it though 🙂

Here at Lexis Byron our teachers love to make their lessons fun! That includes putting on Fashion Shows for the Pre-Intermediate unit on Fashion and Shopping!
Our two Pre-Intermediate classes, Adrienne’s and Michelle’s, joined together for a very amusing afternoon of dress up!
I popped into the classroom to check out their outfits and get some photos as they prepared for the big event…
I didn’t even recognise Leo when I first walked in the room, so amazing was his bridal attire!
There was lots of laughter, but also lots of learning going on! The students had to use what they had learnt that week about passive tense to describe the outfits to eachother.
Whilst it was educational for the students, it’s also just an excuse for teacher Adrienne to get the boys in dresses!

We have another month of exciting activities planned just for our Lexis students!
A few parties/BBQ’s will be happening; with the End of Cambridge Party on the 10th, Cambridge Welcome BBQ on the 13th, and End of Course BBQ on the 24th!
Every Monday you can stretch out and relax doing Yoga with Stef in the garden from 11-12 and with Fee in Room 8 from 2:15 to 3:15.
On Tuesdays or Wednesdays we have the popular activity of Coffee Lounge, with Tim Tams and fun games aimed at encouraging students to get to know each other better, all while practicing their English!
We have a Trivia on the 2nd, with prizes to be won! This will be in the garden or student lounge.
On the 9th Jason from the Lexis Noosa marketing team will be coming in to do a Presentation about long term Business Courses. This is great for those who want to stay in beautiful Byron for longer!! Pizza will also be provided 🙂
Flavio will be coming in on the 14th to teach you how to Skateboard and Olmo on the 21st to teach you how to Slackline!
Our monthly Table Tennis Tournament is on the 16th! Will anyone be able to beat February’s champion, Roman?!
Sport-wise we also have Volleyball on the 3rd, then Rugby on the 31st (11am in the garden and 2pm at the beach for both activities)!
On the 17th we’ll be Wine Tasting; the perfect way to end the week and will no doubt be as popular as last month’s Beer Tasting!
We’ll be holding a Poker Tournament on the 8th with prizes to be won!
To get creative we’ll be Boomerang Painting on the 30th and making Sushi on the 23rd!
Let’s Go Surfing will be doing their 1 hour Surf Lesson special for just $20 on the 28th, or you can book in a 3-hour surf lesson with me anytime at Reception for just $50!
We have Job Club twice this month, on the 14th and the 28th. I’ll be in Room 8 at 11am and 2pm to help you write resumes/cover letters, look for jobs, apply for TFN’s and give you advice on gaining your RSA or Barista license!
GIL (Guided Individual Learning) runs every day from 12-1pm and 2-3pm in Room 8. Come along to get help with anything from homework to vocabulary to writing your resume.
We will also continue to enjoy our Student Nights at Cheeky Monkeys every Tuesday night – meet at BWT @ 8pm first to get your drinks, food and fun!

It was too hot for coffee today so we swapped this for beers! Although no-one minded that it was also too hot for Tim Tams as they still tucked into these as they melted!
We played cards games including Crazy Eight and President (although Marta thought this was a game Raphael was making up himself, especially after he won!).
Lear provided some excellent backing music on the guitar!
Jain popped by to say bye to everyone before she leaves tomorrow; you’ll be missed Jain, we wish you all the best for the future!
Roman then showed us some very impressive magic tricks, before everyone headed to the beach to enjoy the sun!
