Clemente is from Chile. He comes from an amazing family and has an awesome relationship with his six brothers. He is currently studying business at the University of Chile. Since he was a small chile he has been practicing soccer and also loves to skate and surf. He wants to study English in Australia so he can improve his grammar and when he returns to Chile he will hopefully find a job where he can apply his English.
Ines is from Spain. Before coming to Australia she worked as a pre-school teacher as well as going to university. She will return to university next year to study psychology. Ines has always wanted to visit Australia as it was her dream destination and she thought it would be the best place to learn English. Her hobbies include going to the gym and meeting her friends.
Patrick is from Switzerland. He likes to run, surf, and snowboard. Back home he meets with friends every two weeks and they play different sports like workout circuits, athletics, and running. He studied to be an electrician for 3 years and now he works for a security firm where they make fire, video, and security systems. He programs and installs the systems for clients. He is in Australia to study English especially his vocabulary.
Paula is from Spain. She loves her family and has a special bond with her mother. The family loves to spend time together and make amazing food. She also loves to do sports especially tennis which she will play while here in Australia. Paula studied to be a sports teacher and has been working for a year in a school but realised that she wanted to travel. She is in Australia to study English but is also very excited about seeing this beautiful country.
Florence is from Switzerland. She’s had lots of experience in the travel and tourism industry. She was always fascinated about getting to know other cultures and dreamt of foreign places. She then fell in love with surfing and the game changed. Florence spent the next 6 months in Portugal and enjoyed spending most days at the beach. She’s also a big fan of swimming, a passion she shares with her sister.

A very warm welcome to all new starters this week at Lexis Byron Bay!
Maya is from Switzerland. She lives with her parents in a small village called Reigoldswil and her two sisters live near-by. Her hobbies are singing and playing the alp horn which is a typical Swiss instrument. This summer, Maya finished her apprenticeship as a medical assistant and has been working in a surgery with 5 doctors. She needs English for her job and is hoping that she will achieve a better level of English after her trip to Australia.
Joëlle is from Switzerland. She finished an apprenticeship in retail sales where her main role was to serve customers. She has a younger brother and a step sister who are both 17. In her free time she likes to practice aerobics and in winter go skiing with her family. Joëlle is in Australia to better her English and will hopefully travel once she has finished at Lexis Byron Bay.
Valeria is from Spain. She has 3 older brothers and her father is from Argentina. Her family own a hotel in Spain where she works. Valeria chose to study English in Australia and believes it’s the most amazing county. Her passion is surfing but is also here because of the culture, animals, beaches, and people. She wants to improve her English and enjoy the experience while here.
Nadin is from Switzerland. She lives in a small town called Graubunden which, is famous for being the highest town in Europe. She lives in an apartment with her sister and loves to mountain bike and go hiking on the weekends. After school she worked as a painter for 3 years but in winter she worked in a restaurant on top of a mountain. Nadin is here to learn English and after 6 weeks at Lexis Byron Bay she will move to Sydney.
Xenia is from Spain. She will be studying English at Lexis Byron Bay for the next 8 months. She also loves to spend time with her friends, photography, travel, and reading! Xenia studied early childhood and worked in a kindergarten for the last two years. While in Australia she will hopefully work out her next venture in life.
Mutsumi is from Japan. She is interested in the Byron lifestyle and environment which is why she chose to study English at Lexis Byron Bay . She will be here for 24 weeks and is hoping to improve her English so she can go back to Japan and find a good job. Mutsumi loves to go to the beach and listening to music but also likes jogging, cycling, nature and travelling.
Marta is from Spain. She lives with her Parents and sister in Valencia. She studied nutrition at University and later worked as a nutritional specialist in a health centre. Her favourite sport is cross fit because it’s such a hard sport! She wants to improve her English so she can travel the world without so many problems and is hoping to find a job once she’s graduated from Lexis Byron Bay.

This week we welcome 19 new students who are joining us at Lexis Byron Bay.
Daichi is from Tokyo, Japan. He lives with his mother, father, and younger sister. He works as a Hairdresser in Tokyo and if he moves back to Japan he will open his own salon. Daichi’s hobbies include skateboarding, tennis, and road tripping. He also likes nature and wildlife and is happy to be in Australia where there is lots of wildlife.
Michela is from Germany. Her Mother is a doctor and her Father is an engineer. She also has an older sister. She works as a nurse in a hospital and has just finished her bachelors degree in health sciences. She loves to spend her time with friends and doing sports like zumba or yoga. Michela decided to study English in Australia because she wanted to combine travelling to New Zealand and Australia while improving her English skills.
Dominik is from Switzerland. His uncle lives in Astonville which is about 20 minutes away from Byron Bay. Dominik will stay in Byron for the next 4 weeks and while he is here he hopes to learn how to surf and to better his English. He has one brother and one sister and works as a tax consultant. In his spare time he enjoys playing soccer and in winter he likes to ski in the Alps.
Katherina is from Germany. Her hobbies include running, handball, and spending time with her friends. She also has one sister called Jessica. She is in Byron Bay for two weeks to study English and after her course she will travel around Australia and New Zealand. She has been working in a bank and when she returns to Germany she is hoping to find a similar job.
Daria is from Switzerland. She lives with her family and her 3 cats. Her favourite hobby is caring for her cats and meeting with friends. She works in a Hospital as a nurse but would love to work as a doctors assistant in a practice as it has better work hours. She likes the idea of learning English because she will be able to speak to many people from around the world.
Salvador is from Spain. He loves to travel and his hobbies include playing the ukulele and working with wood. He is very keen to learn English in Australia as it is a beautiful country and he is hoping to be able to understand and talk to everyone. He is looking forward to summer in Byron and having a good time.
Melina is from Laax, Switzerland. She usually works for the council office in Laax. Her hobbies include climbing, catching up with friends and listening to music. Melina looks forward to studying English in Australia as it will give her a skill for future use.
Lena is from Switzerland. She lives in a house with her mother and her boyfriend. She loves to play volleyball and is hoping to be able to play while in Byron. Lena works as a medical assistant and just finished her apprenticeship. She loves to travel and after studying in Byron she will travel up the east coast to Cairns.
Celia is from Belgium. She lives with her mother and two younger sisters. She recently finished her studies in social media and when she returns from Australia she will work in this field. Celia is hoping to travel Australia after her course in Byron so she can meet people and progress in her English.
Lisa is from Reunion. Reunion is a small island in the Indian Ocean where she lives with her parents. She has a sister that lives in France and a brother that lives in Quebec, Canada. She loves to travel and wildlife which is what brought her to Australia. Her hobbies are running and surfing. Lisa is here to study English but will also study Biology or Nutrition.
Elvira is from Switzerland. She is a return student to Lexis English. She studied on our English + Surfers programme for four weeks last summer. Now she is back and is hoping to leave with a Advanced level of English after 6 months of study here.
Patrik is from Czech Republic. His hobbies include sport, music, and literature. Patrik and his brother work on project together called ‘The Famous Literary Group’ where they are trying to bring back modern poetry and prose. He likes how relaxed Australia is which is why he chose to study English here.
Magdalena is from Czech Republic. When she was in her country she studied music. Her main subject was singing. She loves Australian music and feels that music helps connect people and words. This is the reason she choose to come to Australia and study English. Her dream is to be creative in English and be fluent enough to write her own lyrics.
Ludovico is from Italy. He is passionate about surfing and nature. He was studying Economics at university but decided to leave and do a bar tending course instead. He choose to come to Australia because of the great surf and amazing beaches. He doesn’t have any plans for the future, but is excited to see where life takes him.
Nolwen is from Reunion Island. Her parents really like to travel, so since she was little, her and her brother have been to many different countries. Her family lived in Australia in 2009 and they have visited every 2 years since. She loves this country and thinks the people are the nicest people she has ever met. She is passionate about music, surfing and the ocean. In the future she would like to study the history of cinema as she loves making film, learning about the process of sound and making stories.
Veronica is from Brazil. Her interests include reading, doing yoga, listening to music, travelling and learning about spirituality. She is an environmental engineer, she typically works with degraded areas and wind farms. She is here in Australia to improve her English so she can confidently work on international projects in the future.
Laura is from Spain. She loves sports, especially trail running and jiu jitsu (martial arts). She studied civil engineering, but currently is not working in this field. In the future she hopes to build a hostel in Spain and attract customers from all over the world, this is why she needs to improve her English.
Miriam is from Spain. Ever since she was a child, she has always loved nature. Her hobbies include trekking in nature and water activities. She also loves to read and listen to music. She has been working as a nurse since 2014 and loves her job. She wants to improve her English so she can become a better nurse and communicate with patients from all over the world.

Raul is from Spain and he is here with his girlfriend Noemi. He works for a company who fabricate different seeds including; corn seeds, tomatoes, cucumber and melons. His hobbies include playing soccer, running and going to the cinema. It has always been a dream of his dreams to come to Australia because he feels it is an amazing country! In the future Raul hopes to come back and visit other city’s.
Noemi is Raul’s girlfriend and is also from Spain! She currently works as a kindergarten and primary school teacher. In her spare time she loves going out with friends and family and enjoys travelling and learning about new cultures. She is so excited to be in Australia to improve her English and experience the Byron Bay lifestyle.
Juliette is from France. Her favourite things to do are travel, hang out with friends and eat chocolate chip cookies! 😀 She also plays rugby and enjoys taking care of animals. Juliette hopes to improve her English so in the future when she travels she finds it easier to communicate.

Antoine is from France. In his spare time he enjoys playing sports, especially basketball. He also likes video games. His favourite subjects at school are math and sport, but he is also good at science and English. Antoine hopes in the future to become an architect, an engineer, a scientist and a professional basketball player. To be successful, Antoine believes it is important to have a good understanding of the English language.
Fabiana is from Milan, Italy. In her free time Fabiana likes to go out with friends and enjoys going for runs in the parks in her city. She decided to come to Australia to improve her English because she likes the language and because it gives more opportunity to find a job. Fabiana plans on staying in Australia until December and in this time she hopes to learn a lot.
Jihyun is from Korea. In her free time she enjoys listening to music to help her relax. She has always wanted to become a teacher since she was young. Jihyun had a friend who studied in Australia for 1 year who recommended her to do the same. She hopes to have improved her English by the time she returns to Korea so in the future she can teach English to children.

Leonie is from the German speaking part of Switzerland. She likes floorball and has played piano for four years. She chose Byron Bay for her studies as she likes to live in a small town, instead of a big city like Sydney. She has just finished 4 years at economic school and wants to improve her English for University.
Nicolas is a dentist from Chile. He chose to come to Byron Bay as he likes the warm weather and the life style. He hopes to improve his English to continue studying in Spain.
Patrick is from the German speaking part of Switzerland. In his free time he enjoys mountain biking, hiking, motorsports and wakeboarding. He is interested in cars and good conversation. Patrick hopes to improve his English for travel.
Mano is from France. He is passionate about sport, mostly CrossFit. He also loves music. He is interested in science and the human body and has a lot of questions about life. Mano will start studying philosophy next year.
Eliane is from the German speaking part of Switzerland. During the Winter she likes to snowboard in the mountains and has worked as a snowboard instructor in ski resorts. In the Summer she likes to swim, surf and enjoy the outdoors. She chose Byron Bay so she can surf and enjoy travelling while she improves her English.
Gabriela (Gabby) is from the German speaking part of Switzerland. She chose Byron Bay because she is from a small town and likes the country side. She enjoys swimming in the ocean and thinks she might learn to surf while she is here. She is a hairdresser and wants to improve her English because she has many foreign customers in Switzerland.
Juhee is from Korea. She is interested in making international friends to share good food and conversation with. She is passionate about health and enjoys sports, such as basketball and swimming. Christophe is from the German speaking part of Switzerland. He loves doing fitness activities, particularly skiing. He studied electrical engineering for 2 years and has now been working as an electrician for the past 4 years. He wants to improve his English as it will help him with his work in the future!
Marco is from Italy. He served in the military for 1 year, as well as having jobs in construction, distribution of alcohol and an ambulance driver! After studying with us at Lexis for 3 weeks he will move to Adelaide to find work, hopefully with only English speakers so he can continue to improve the language!
Yoran is from New Caledonia. He is currently studying at a large school there, with many cultures, including Malaysian, European, Polynesian, Asian and African. When he has finished his studies he would like to work in a job relating to the environment, and wants a high level of English to be able to do this in other countries!
Momoko is from Japan, and goes by her nickname Momo. Her main passion in life is make-up. She will study with us at Lexis Byron for 8 weeks and is really looking forward to improving her English in this time!
Lars is from the German speaking part of Switzerland. In his free time he enjoys sports, cooking and being in nature. He completed an apprenticeship to be a chef and will start work in the best hotel in Switzerland when he returns! He chose Byron Lexis for his studies because his brother studied here 2 years ago and said it is a great place to be; nice beaches and friendly happy people!
Chantal is from the German speaking part of Switzerland. Her parents own a restaurant and her father owns a farm there. She works as a cook in hospital and also in a restaurant. Her hobbies include hiking in the mountains, swimming and skiing. After she has completed her 6 weeks of English studies with us she wants to do a farm stay in Australia to work with animals!
Isabel is from the Italian speaking part of Switzerland. She loves animals and has two adopted cats. She also loves nature and that is why she chose Australia for her English studies! Her other hobbies include walking, dancing, yoga and driving off road with her jeep! She wants to improve her English so she can understand films and music better, and also so she can meet people on her travels!
Sophie is from the French speaking part of Switzerland. She has just finished her Bachelor in Graphic Design and now wants to complete a Masters focusing on Graphic Design in the Fashion Industry. She will complete her Masters in Paris as well as an apprenticeship in a fashion studio. She is here studying with us for the next month to improve her English as the course will be in English and many people in the fashion industry speak in English, so it is very important for her career!
Eveline is from the German speaking part of Switzerland. She enjoys sports activities, including crossfit, climbing, jogging, surfing and hiking. She finished her education to become a physiotherapist last year and worked to save money to travel! She is really happy to be in Australia, to get to know the friendly people, enjoy the relaxed lifestyle and surf in one of the best spots in the world!

Her main passion is dancing, particularly ballet and modern jazz, both of which she has been practicing for 11 years. She wants to improve her English so she can pass an audition for a drama school in London! She chose Australia for her studies as she is interested to explore the nature and enjoy the sun!
Andre is from Brazil. He is studying business as college in Brazil but is taking a break to improve his English and also complete another course here in Australia. He enjoys riding his bike, going to waterfalls and being at the beach. He chose Australia for his studies because of the friendly people, beautiful nature, warm weather and beaches!
Martina is from the German speaking part of Switzerland. She works as baker and crates lots of different cakes. Her hobbies include soccer and going out with friends. She chose Byron Bay for her studies after recommendations from friends! Once she has finished her 4 weeks of study with us she will travel the East Coast for 4 weeks!
Kedsarin is from Thailand. Her hobbies include watching television. She wants to improve her English so she can speak with her husband and his family. In the future she would like to find work here in Australia, this is another reason for her wanting to have a higher level of English!
Phairin is from Chiang Mai, Thailand. She would like to be called by her nickname, Magic. She worked a variety of jobs in Thailand to save to come to Australia and live with her friend. She wants to improve her English to better communicate with people from all over the world and also for work!
Rocio is from Barcelona, Spain. She is currently living in Ibiza and working in one of their large nightclubs as a waitress! She studied Social Integration at college and will now study with us at Lexis Byron for 17 weeks. She wants to improve her English so she can find a better job and to speak with people from other countries on her travels!
Axel is from the French speaking part of Switzerland. His hobbies include riding his motorcycle and listening to music. He started an apprenticeship in a bank but didn’t enjoy it, so will start a new apprenticeship for a motorcycle company when he returns home. He chose Australia for his studies because it is a beautiful place with lovely weather!

Gustavo, from Brazil, loves to travel and meet people from all over the world to learn about their cultures. This combined with his new hobby of surfing makes Byron Bay the perfect place for him to study! He has graduated as a production engineer and would like to improve his English so he is able to get a good job relating to this (and do some more travelling!).
Eugene is from Italy but has been working in Switzerland as an engineer. He choose to study English in Australia because he loves the lifestyle here and thinks it is a beautiful country (and he’s certainly not wrong!). He enjoys snowboarding and any other sports that involve a board, so he will no doubt be perfecting his surf skills whilst in Byron!
Valerie, from Switzerland, choose to study in Byron so she can also learn surfing whilst learning English! She enjoys many sports, including skiing, snowboarding, swimming, hiking and biking! She has just finished school and plans to spend the next year travelling and working, before studying Veterinary medicine at University in Bern.
Steven, from Germany, has just completed his Masters Degree in Industrial Engineering. His passions are sports and nature and last year he crossed the Alps with only his backpack and a tent!! Bitna is from Korea and enjoys travelling, watching movies and listening to music. Her dream is to be a nurse and she is currently majoring in nursing. She chose to study in Byron bay because she loves dolphins and knows there’s a very good chance of spotting them here!
Milena is from Brazil and works as a journalist. Her hobbies include going to the beach, dancing, writing and going to the gym. She wants to improve her English so she can get a good job in Brazil.
Nami is from Japan, where she lives with her mother, sister, brother and dog. Her hobbies include listening to music and reading comics. She chose to study in Byron Bay because of the beautiful weather and beaches!
Andrea is from Switzerland and lives in a village that has more cows than people! She loves music and regularly goes to concerts and festivals. Her other hobbies include going out with friends and traveling. She chose to study in English in Byron Bay because of all the great things she’s heard about it!
Shogo is from Tokyo in Japan. He loves animals, especially his dog, and his hobbies include keeping tropical fish. He studies Law at university but much prefers culture and food, so that is why he came to Australia! He wants to learn English to get a job with a food or trade company.
Harumi is from Japan and enjoys watching movies, reading books and finding cafes. She is interested in coffee so would like to visit some nice coffee shops in Byron! She is studying Sociology at college. She chose to study English in Australia as she doesn’t like to cold and knows we have beautiful warm weather here!
Angela is from Switzerland where she works as a nurse. She enjoys cooking with friends, reading books and going to the cinema. She also enjoys ski crossing in the winter and swimming in the summer. She would like to improve her English for when she goes travelling.
Helena is from Spain and studies psychology at the University of Barcelona.She needs to learn English so she can do a masters when she returns to Spain, and she chose to do it in Australia as it has always been her dream to come here!
Mariana is from Brazil. She chose to study in Australia as she loves the hot weather and it reminds her of home. She is unsure of her plans for the future, she just wants to enjoy every moment!
Suji is from Korea, you can just call her Sue! She majors in hospital of administration. She enjoys watching Korean dramas and listening to music. She chose to study in Australia as her friends enjoyed studying here and told her there were students from many different nationalities, so she is interested to meet them and make new friends!
Sheri is from Japan and enjoys exercising, particularly swimming. She also enjoys watching movies in English as they help her improve her speaking, she loves when she learns a new phrase. In the future she would like to open a marine sports club so for this she needs to learn English and surfing, she’s definitely at the right place for this!
Sophie is from Switzerland and has just finished school. She enjoys meeting up with her friends and going for coffees. In August she will start a job in a Psychiatrists as an assistant. After her 3 months with us here at Lexis Byron Bay she will spend 3 months at Lexis in Perth!
Millan is from Spain and enjoys surfing, skateboarding and reading. He has just finished his Law Degree in Madrid so has decided to take a gap year! Whilst in Australia he would like to improve his English, surf, work, travel and make new friends from all over the world!
Carolina is from Italy and lives in the beautiful village Cinque Terre. Her family own a restaurant and she has worked there since she was 14 years old. She moved to Australia in 2014 and studied at Lexis Perth before completing her farm work then finding a job as a cafe manager. She is back with us at Lexis to now complete her IELTs exam.
Laura is from Spain and enjoys photography and playing tennis. She is from Almeria but has lived in Madrid for the past 5 years. She has just finished her university studies in Journalism and Advertisement. She needs to learn English for her profession and chose to do so in Australia as it’s an amazing country with lots of opportunities!
Jose, who prefers to be called Oliver, is from Spain. He enjoys reading and sports. While in Byron Bay he would like to learn to surf and skateboard. Welcome to the three new starters at Lexis Byron Bay this week!
Nadejda is from Brazil and is one of four in her family, with her mum, dad and older sister, plus their dog Lola. She enjoys going to the cinema, reading, partying with friends and going on holiday to the beach. She is studying Psychology and has one year left of her degree. She choose to study English because it is required for her to continue her studies with her Masters degree. She hopes to practice her English by participating in yoga, surfing and photography classes while in Byron Bay.
Desiree is from Spain and lives with her brother and father and has a large extended family. She likes reading and photography. She choose to study to study at Lexis Byron Bay to improve her English and enjoy the beautiful town. In the future she hopes to study more in photography.
Kana is from Japan and is one of five in her family, including her dad, mum, grandma and younger brother. She works as a dental hygienist providing professional cleaning including tooth scaling, polishing and whitening. She is going to attend a training program in Brisbane to study orthodontics. In the future she hopes to be an orthodontist for children. For this reason she wants to improve her English to help her studies.

Bruno is from Brazil and is an only child. His father is a Mechanic and his mother works for a company as the Manager of Distribution. Bruno likes diving, surfing, playing piano, the beach and nature. He works from home as a Goldsmith. He decided to come to Australia for the warm weather and similar climate to Brazil. He wants to learn English so he can further his knowledge for his career with courses in other countries.
Axel is from Switzerland and lives in the small town of Fribourg. He has a large family, with two brothers and two sisters. He completed his apprenticeship as a Watch Maker but wants to follow a new career path when he returns, possibly working in the Luxury Car industry. He decided to learn English because it is an important language that is useful for discovering other countries and ways of life in the world.
Thomas is from Switzerland and is one of four in his family, including his parents and older sister. He loves playing tennis and football. After completing school he decided that he prefers manual labour over sitting at a desk so now works as a gardener. He chose to study English in Australia because it is a wonderful country and it’s a good excuse to get out of Switzerland for their Winter!
Larissa is from Brazil and lives in the city of Sao Paulo with her mother and brother. She is studying Biomedical Engineering at university and in the future hopes to continue her studies at a university with a more advanced course in this area. This is part of the reason for her wanting to study English. She also chose to study in Australia because she has a cousin living in Sydney and she visited Australia herself when she was a young child but doesn’t remember much of that trip. She chose to live in Byron Bay to experience living in a small town with a calm, relaxing lifestyle and after just one day here so far, she already loves it!
Shirori is from Japan and is one of four in her family, with her mother, father and older brother. She loves yoga and hopes to one day be a yoga teacher. She decided to study English to help her reach this goal. She chose to study in Byron Bay because this area is well known for having a lot of different yoga classes and retreats to experience.

Valerie is from Switzerland and lives in the town of Lausanne. She works as a Pastry Chef, which she is passionate about and loves her job. She also likes swimming and photography, taking photos of nature, animals and people. She has an older brother who has lived and worked in Thailand for the past three years and will hopefully come visit Byron Bay! She came to Byron Bay so she can study English, which she hopes will help with her career in future.
David is from Bordeaux in France, which is an area famous for red wine. He is one of four siblings, with two brothers and one sister. He enjoys playing sports, like running or swimming, going to the cinema and watching TV. He works as a Lifeguard at the beach during the Summer. He wants to study English because it is the most important language to be able to communicate with people from around the world. He chose to study in Byron Bay because it looks like a beautiful place with awesome weather.
Simone is from Switzerland and believes English has become one of the most important languages in the world. She is currently studying Veterinary Medicine and has worked with people from all over the world. Through this she has realised how important it is for her to be able to speak English. She will also need to be able to read medical papers and do presentations in English for her work. She is very keen to learn as much as possible in the next few weeks studying at Lexis Byron Bay and hopes to one day be fluent in English. She chose to study in Australia for the great people and the natural beauty of this country.
Mariana is from Brazil and is one of five in her family. She is the middle child, with one older and one younger sister. She is studying at university, which takes up most of her time, but in her free time she likes to practice yoga, go to the beach, travel and spend time with family and friends. She came to Australia for the great beaches and beautiful nature. She hopes to improve her English so that she can get a good job when she returns to Brazil.
Stefanie is from Switzerland and is one of six in her family. Her parents are farmers and have a lot of animals on their farm. She also has three younger sisters. She enjoys snowboarding, travelling and likes to ‘go with the flow’ in life. She hopes to improve her English, gain confidence, find herself and learn how to surf while in Australia. In the future she wants to start a family and enjoy a happy life.
Ayumi is from Japan and is one of six in her family, with her parents, two brothers and one sister. They are also a host family and have friends or students from other countries or prefectures stay with them. She has been working as a Teacher in a day care centre for children under the age of five. She has worked in this job for nine years and loves it. She decided to come to Byron Bay for the good beaches, the organic foods and the quiet, calm lifestyle. She wants to improve her English and hopes to also work in Byron Bay.
Karise is from Brazil and is one of four in her family with her parents and older brother. She loves photography, surfing and being active. She works as a Fashion Designer, creating surf clothing and swimwear, for her mother’s company as well as doing some freelance work for other companies. She chose to come to Australia for the lifestyle, the surf and to improve her English. She is excited to be living in a country with a great range of sports and with such good weather. She also believes that improving her English will help her career because she can travel the world to study and bring new trends back to her home country. She hopes to one day create her own line of clothing.
Marion is from Germany and has three children – two sons and one daughter. She works as a Flight Attendant and loves to travel and visit new countries. She also enjoys reading, music, yoga and walking. Her daughter has been at school in Queensland for the past five months so Marion is here to join her daughter for the end of her Australian trip. She hopes to do some surf or riding lessons while here in Byron Bay. They will be joined by her husband and one of their sons for a family trip to the Whitsundays and Sydney before returning to Germany.
Tina is from Switzerland and is one of five in her family, including her mother, father, sister and brother. She likes snowboarding, skiing and being outdoors in nature. She completed training to become a Plastic Technician and a Salesperson. She chose to study in Byron Bay because she loves the small town and she would like to improve her English. She hopes to travel all around the world and is thinking about doing an English exam here.
Katiucia is from Brazil where she works in the Fashion industry as a Photographer.She decided to study in Australia so she can learn to speak English, which will help her career. She is looking forward to meeting new people and learning about different cultures. When she returns to Brazil, she plans to resume her work in Photography using her newly acquired English language knowledge in her job as well.
Silvan is from Switzerland and is one of four in his family. His father works as a Production Manager and his mother works as a Secretary. He has an older sister who works as a Travel Agent. He enjoys playing football, hanging out with friends and, in the Winter, he likes skiing in the mountains. He trained as a Bricklayer before doing his time in the Swiss Army, which he has just completed. During school he studied English but has not used it in the past four years. He hopes to improve his speaking and writing skills while studying at Lexis Byron Bay.
Yuki is from Japan where he is a High School student. He is one of four in his family, including his mother, father and sister. He has travelled to America twice and decided to come to Australia because his sister recommended it. He likes watching movies, playing sports and is currently enjoying watching the TV show The Walking Dead. He practiced Karate for ten years and has a black belt. While in Australia he would like to learn to surf. He loves visiting foreign countries and would like to live abroad in the future.
Julia is from Brazil and is the middle child of three siblings, with one older sister and one younger sister. She enjoys going to the beach, going to the cinema, hanging out with friends, spending time with family and travelling. She has already visited about 15 countries across the world! She has worked for a Petroleum company in Human Resources for the past five years. She decided to study English to help her communicate with people from different countries when she travels. She chose to study in Australia for the beaches and to meet new people.
Roy is from Switzerland and is one of four in his family, who are very important to him. His mother works in a restaurant and his father works as an Electronic Engineer. He has a younger sister called Celine who works as a Nurse in a hospital. Roy works as a Polymechanic Engineer. He loves sport, either watching or playing, and enjoys playing football, going to the gym or hanging out with friends in his free time. He came to Australia to improve his English speaking skills, which is the most important aspect for him at the moment. He would like to be able to talk with people from all around the world and learn about different countries. He is hoping to learn a lot at Lexis and is excited to be in Byron Bay.
Ana is from Brazil where she lives with her mother, younger brother and her grandparents. She is studying Law in Brazil and plans to focus on Corporate Law when she finishes university. She likes going to the beach and works part-time as a model. She decided to study English in Australia for the beautiful beaches and the nice people.
Simon is from Switzerland and is one of four in his family, including his brother. He enjoys Thai boxing, windsurfing, diving and snowboarding. He currently works as a Truck Driver in Switzerland and, when he returns, will study something like Social Work. He is studying English in Byron Bay for the beautiful nature and so that he can also complete his Dive Master, which he plans to do in Thailand after his time in Australia.

Estelle is from Switzerland where she lives with her parents and older sister called Laura. She is passionate about gymnastics, which she has practiced since she was a child. She has worked for four years in Real Estate and is now hoping to change into a different career, but she is unsure in what area yet. She decided to study in Australia for the weather, the beaches and because it has been her dream to travel here! In the future she hopes to work in other countries.
Raphael is from France. He wants to improve his English because he believes it is important for his future career and is a useful language to know. He chose to study English in Australia for the weather, the people, the beaches and the lifestyle. He does not know what kind of job he would like to do in the future, but is hoping this experience in Australia will help him find his way!
Sibille is from Switzerland. She has been studying at Lexis in Noosa, on the Sunshine Coast, and now joins us at Lexis Byron Bay to continue her studies. She is looking forward to improving her English skills and learning how to surf in Byron Bay!

Laura is from Colombia but has spent the past six years living in Germany. She is the youngest of her family and her parents, older brother and older sister all still live in Colombia. She loves sports, such as playing volleyball or watching soccer, and enjoys dancing to latin music including the salsa, merenge and bachata. She has just completed her undergraduate studies in Germany, in International Business with Event Management. She plans to start her Masters degree next year in Sport Event and Marketing Management in Berlin. She decided to study in Australia to improve her English to help her future studies and career. She also has a keen interest in other cultures and has always wanted to visit Australia to see the beautiful nature and beaches.
Marta is from Spain and lives on the island of Mallorca with her parents. She is an only child but has a lot of cousins in her extended family. Last year she completed her studies to become a teacher, with her final training taking place in Morocco. This was a life-changing experience for her and has inspired her to travel around the world helping children without easy access to education. She is planning to spend nine months in Australia and hopes to improve her English while meeting lots of people from all over the world and enjoying the beautiful environment of the country.
Kazuma is from Japan and is one of six in his family. He enjoys playing and watching sports, especially baseball, but is a bit disappointed that this is not played much in Australia! Instead, he is looking forward to learning how to surf and possibly making this his new favourite hobby. He decided to study at Lexis Byron Bay to improve his English because he wants to work as a nurse in Australia. For this he plans to study hard so that he can achieve a high score on the IELTS test. He also wants to be able to speak English well so he can communicate with others easily and enjoy his life here in Australia.
Sayuri is from Japan and is one of four in her family, including her mother, father and younger sister. She has been wanting to study English overseas for a while now so is very happy to be here! She likes swimming, walking, travelling and photography, and enjoys her annual trips to the beach with her family. She studied English for 12 weeks in the Philippines and, though she learnt a lot there, is now looking forward to building on that knowledge and improving her speaking and listening skills. She decided to study in Australia because she loves Summer, the sea and warm places, and because she wanted to experience living in another country.

Gaetan is from Switzerland and is one of four in his family, including his mother, father and brother. He likes riding bikes, playing video games and, above all, doing these things with friends and family. After high school, he completed an apprenticeship as a mechanic before then studying Engineering. He is now studying English in Australia to enjoy the sun and the beach before returning to Switzerland to do his time in the army. In the future he hopes to do a Masters in Mechanics.
Franny is originally from the Dominican Republic but she now lives in Switzerland. She is one of eight in her family, with her mother and two of her brothers also living in Switzerland, and her father, sister and two more brothers still living in the Dominican Republic. She enjoys learning and speaking different languages, going to the beach, playing sport and cooking. After completing her studies and then working for a year at a university, she decided to study English in Australia for a new experience. She will be with us at Lexis Byron Bay for three weeks before travelling for another month.
Beatrice is from Switzerland and is one of three siblings, with a sister and a brother. She loves music, playing sport and enjoying life as much as possible! She completed high school two years ago and is now a professional Skier. Skiing is her passion and also her job, but right now she is injured so decided to travel to Australia. She would like to improve her English and learn more about different people and cultures. After five weeks of studying at Lexis Byron Bay she will return home to begin her rehabilitation and hopefully her skiing comeback!
Estefania is from Spain and is one of four in her family, with her mother, father and younger brother, plus her grandmother who is like her second mum! She loves sports and usually starts the day with an early morning run. For the past ten years she has worked as a model and hostess which allowed her to meet a lot of interesting people from all around the world. Last year she started studying Interior Design and is now taking a break to improve her English and hopes to become fluent. She decided to study in Australia to discover another way of life while being able to continue enjoying her fit and healthy lifestyle.
Karla is from Brazil and lives with her parents and younger sister. She enjoys going to the beach and watching movies. She studied Advertising and has a postgraduate degree in Cultural Production, and is partway through a second postgraduate degree in Quality Management which she will complete when she returns to Brazil. She chose to study in Australia because it is a safe country with lots of beautiful nature. She also wanted to experience living in a small town, so different from her big city, which is why she came to Lexis Byron Bay.
Emiko is from Japan and is one of four in her family, including her mother, father and older sister. She also has a cute dog called Annie and some fish. She likes cooking, drawing, latte art and spending time relaxing. She studied English for two months in the Philippines and came here to continue improving her knowledge so that she can make friends with people from all over the world. She is looking forward to exploring the town of Byron Bay and hopes to find work in Australia, either here or in Brisbane. She also hopes to spend lots of time at the beach with friends making lots of wonderful memories of her time here!

Sandro is from Switzerland and lives with his family in Zurich. His family consists of his mother, father and sister. He enjoys playing soccer for his local club and works for the Swiss postal service. He decided to study English at Lexis Byron Bay after his sister visited Byron Bay and told him how wonderful the town is. He will be in Australia for the next three months before returning to Switzerland to do his military service.
Michelle is from the beautiful city of Zurich in Switzerland. She is an only child and likes to draw, read books and spend time with friends. She works as a Draughtsperson and Site Manager for an architecture company. She decided to study English in Australia because her aunty lives here, in the Mount Burrell area between Nimbin and Uki, and has spent the past two weeks with her there. She plans to stay in Byron Bay for the next three months before travelling around Australia.
Delphine is from Switzerland and is the middle child, with an older brother and a younger sister. She enjoys spending time with friends and keeping active with crossfit, running and cycling. She works as a Secretary for a food company in Switzerland. Ten years ago she lived in Germany so that she could learn German which she needs for her job. She has always dreamed of visiting Australia which is why she decided to study English here, and chose Byron Bay for the small town and open space. She hopes to do a little bit of travel after her studies to see the Australian lifestyle and to learn how to surf.
Maxime is from Switzerland and is the youngest of four brothers in his family. He has a lot of hobbies, one of which is playing soccer for a local team. He studied at High School for three years but found it very boring and felt it seemed more like ten years! He came to study in Australia so that he could improve his English to help with travelling and because he wants to become a teacher when he returns home.
Rosa is from Spain and is one of five in her family including her mother, father and two younger brothers. She is originally from Valencia but has lived in Ibiza for the past three years. She likes animals, gastronomy, sports and history. She came to Australia to learn English and chose Byron Bay for the beautiful beaches and people. She hopes to improve her English so that she can work here and in other cities that she visits as a tourist.
Alejandra is from Spain and lives in Ibiza. She is youngest of three siblings, with her parents and brother living in Castellon and her sister living in Valencia. She works as a Physiotherapist and would like to study to become a Personal Trainer. She loves playing sports, cooking, reading about nutrition and medicine, nature and films. She decided to study English in Australia because it is the most difficult accent for her to understand and chose to live in Byron Bay because it is quite similar to Ibiza. She plans to find a job and a place to live here in Byron Bay and hopes to stay for a year so that she can learn as much English as possible!
Barbara is from Brazil and is one of six siblings in her family, with her four sisters and one brother. She lives in her own place and has two cats who she loves! She works as a Branch Manager for an Education Agency and her job is to help students who want to study abroad. She chose to come to Australia so that she could use her holidays to study English while also enjoying the beaches and atmosphere of this amazing country. She hopes to improve her English while she is here as she uses the language a lot at work. In the future she plans to take an English exam such as Cambridge CAE or IELTS.

Jenny is from Korea and is one of five in her family, including her parents, a sister and a brother. She likes listening to music, watching movies, nature, the beach and speaking with people from different countries. She first learnt English in the Philippines where she studied for two months, but she would like to improve her grammar, vocabulary and writing skills. She chose to study English in Australia because in the future she would like to work in the USA as a Photoshop editor.
Leonardo is from Brazil. He came to Australia to visit his brother who also lives in Byron Bay. He hopes to improve his English while studying at Lexis Byron Bay for the next three months.
Alessia is from Switzerland. She enjoys travel, sport, spending time with friends and reading books. She works as an Office Assistant in a plastering company. She wants to learn English because she believes it is an important language to know for travelling around the world. She chose to study in Australia because it is very different to Switzerland. Jin is from Korea and is one of four in his family, including his father, mother and younger brother. He enjoys playing table tennis and weightlifting. He worked as a telecommunications engineer in Korea with an Australia Shipbuilding Supervisor. This colleague inspired him to travel to Australia to follow his dream of working in shipbuilding and improving his English, which is why he is here at Lexis Byron Bay. After his studies, he plans to work on a farm to get his second year visa and in the future hopes to work for a yacht building company.
Sarah is from Switzerland and is the middle child, with an older brother and a younger brother. In the Winter she likes to go skiing and snowboarding, and in the Summer she enjoys hiking, swimming and relaxing at the beach. She works in a job that she likes, in childcare at a home for children with disabilities. She chose to study at Lexis Byron Bay to improve her English because it will make it easier to travel and speak with people from all over the world. She plans to go diving and surfing in Australia and hopes to see many beautiful places while she is here.
Maria is from Switzerland and is one of four in her family, with her mother, father and younger sister. She enjoys playing sports and keeping fit with Crossfit five times per week. She is interested in organic and healthy food, so she feels that Byron Bay is the right place for her! She has been working with children as a Social Worker for the past eight years and loves her job. She chose to study English in Australia because of the beautiful and interesting nature here. Her plans for the future are to travel and collect moments, not things!
Deborah is from Switzerland and lives with her mother, father and older brother. She enjoys spending time with friends and playing ‘floorball‘ (similar to hockey). She completed her apprenticeship in business two years ago and has since been working for an insurance company. She now wants to improve her English skills so she can take an exam back in Switzerland. Some of her friends recommended Australia as a good country in which to learn English and she chose to come to Byron Bay because it is a small town and a beautiful place. When she returns to Switzerland, she plans to study to become a teacher.
Min Kyou is from Korea and has been living with his wife in Australia. He likes to go fishing and his favourite place is at Brunswick Heads. He met his wife in Australia and, though they didn’t expect to live here, they have now been here for a long time! He is hoping to get a business visa and to work in Byron Bay, and is looking forward to settling down here.
Maylis is from Paris, France and is the youngest of three siblings, with an older brother and an older sister. She likes to travel, go running and climbing, and works in a bank as a Customer Service Advisor. She decided to study in Australia because she wants to improve her English and it gave her a great excuse to travel! She plans to stay here for three months before travelling to New Zealand for another two months.

Elena is from Barcelona, Spain. She loves surfing and eating healthy food, which is why she chose to come to Byron Bay. She works as a Pre-school Teacher and loves her job because every day is different, there are many personal development opportunities and above all, the children’s smiles are the best thing in the world! She came to Australia to study English because it is important for travel and for her professional career.
Maria is from Spain and lives with her parents and brother in a National Park near Portugal. Her parents are Yoga Instructors and Maria enjoys doing yoga every morning at the beach. She has just completed a University degree in Economics and worked at a bank over the Summer. She chose to study in Australia for the peaceful and relaxed lifestyle. She already loves this country and hopes to improve her English so she can travel to many wonderful places!
Lou is from Switzerland and is part of a big family. She enjoys sports and hanging out with friends. She works as a Hairdresser in Zurich and loves her job, but has found English to be important in a city with many people from all over the world living and travelling through. She decided to study English in Australia because she likes the country and has heard great things from her sister and cousin who both travelled here and loved it. She hopes to learn a lot and improve her English during her time here, and also plans to do some travel in Australia, Bali and Fiji.
Iris is from Belgium. She likes listening to music and hanging out with friends. She finished High School earlier this year and came to Australia to improve her English before starting university, as she believes this will help her in her future career. She will be studying at Lexis Byron Bay for the next three months and plans to do some travel through Australia and Thailand afterwards.
Clara is from Italy. She came to Australia on a school exchange program two years ago and lived with a family in Byron Bay. When she left, she felt that she was leaving a little piece of her heart here too! She decided to return to Australia as soon as possible, which is how she ended up at Lexis Byron Bay. She hopes to improve her English speaking skills while she is here so that she can find work and live in one of the major cities of Australia. She plans to work and save money during her time here so that she can do some travel as well. She believes this trip will enrich both her soul and her English skills, as she hopes to meet lots of new people and speak only English for the next year.
Laura is from Zurich, Switzerland. She likes to play hockey, ride horses and hang out with friends. Earlier this year she completed her Diploma in Nursing. She chose to study in Australia because it is a beautiful country with lots of nice locations, wonderful beaches and friendly people. After completing her studies at Lexis Byron Bay she plans to travel the east coast of Australia with her boyfriend before returning to Switzerland.
Yuu is from Japan and works as a waitress. She enjoys watching sports, especially watching football. She has been learning English for many years, through her schooling, but never had the opportunity to build her confidence in speaking the language. She came to Australia on a working holiday. Yuki is from Japan. He is one of four in his family, with his mother, father and sister. They also have a lovely pet dog. He came to Australia to study at Lexis Byron Bay so that he can improve his English.
Fuensanta is from Spain. She has been studying English at Lexis Noosa for a few weeks and now joins us at Lexis Byron Bay for the next four weeks. She already loves it here in Byron Bay! While here, she hopes to improve her English, particularly her speaking skills.
Francesco is from Switzerland and lives in the centre of the Swiss Alps. He is one of six siblings, with three brothers and two sisters. He enjoys doing outdoor activities such as skiing, swimming, jogging and keeping fit. He studied a multilingual Economics course, which he finished last year before completing his compulsory Swiss Army placement. This experience was intense but interesting, with achievements including marching 100km in 21 hours! He decided to study English to help his career, as it is very important to have a good level of English when working in Economics. He chose Lexis Byron Bay because the school is of a high standard, it is in a small town and is on the coast of paradise. After his studies here, he plans to return to Europe to live in Germany and improve his German language skills.

Maurizio is from Genova, Italy. He enjoys horse riding, fishing, being in nature and around animals. He loves to travel and over the past five years he has visited more than 20 countries, all with a wide varieties of cultures and foods. He has been working with his cousin as a waiter for a pizza catering business and hopes to get sponsorship to stay in Australia. For this, he needs to pass the IELTS test which is why he chose to study English at Lexis Byron Bay.
Alexandra is from Germany. In her free time she likes to go out with friends, listen to music and read books. She also learns the flute and is part of a choir. She has worked as a nurse for four years and enjoys working in her local hospital. She came to Australia to study because she wants to improve her English to help when travelling and listening to music. After four weeks at Lexis Byron Bay she plans to travel for two weeks before she has to return home. It is such a short visit, but she hopes to return again next year to see more of the country!
Ji-Young is from Korea and is one of four in her family, with her mother, father and younger sister. She has many hobbies that she enjoys, such as travelling, watching movies and listening to music. She studies Environmental Planning at University and has done research on the environmental effects in her city. Ji-Young has travelled to many places but has never lived in another country. She decided to live in Australia so that she could improve her English while also enjoying warm weather, seeing dolphins here in Byron Bay and learning to surf.
Sheryl is from Switzerland. She likes to keep fit, hang out with friends and travel. She came to Australia to learn English in Byron Bay for four weeks before travelling the east coast. She is looking forward to experiencing a new country and a different lifestyle. She hopes to have a great time and meet lots of people in Australia and her onward travels in Fiji. Her future plans include travelling to many countries, getting married and living a happy life with family and friends.
Janine is from Switzerland and lives with her family including her parents and younger brother and sister in a small village near Lucerne and the Swiss mountains. She works as a draughtsperson for an architectural office, drawing plans for people building houses. In her free time she plays the clarinet and trumpet. She decided to come to Australia to experience a new place and a beautiful country. She flew over here with her friend and, after six weeks of studying English, they will meet up again in Brisbane to travel. They plan to rent a campervan and drive to Cairns, spend a week there and then drive back down to Sydney to fly back to Switzerland.
Julie is from France and is one of five in her family. All her family members live in different locations – her mother in Montpellier, her father in Bordeaux, her sister in Marseille, her brother in Milan, Italy, and now herself in Byron Bay, Australia! She loves to travel and would be very happy if she could travel for the rest of her life. She also enjoys reading, going to the cinema, having fun with friends, and keeping fit with running, going to the gym or swimming at the beach. She works in sales and has been in her job for six years. She wants to improve her English because it is spoken so widely across the world and is helpful for travel, and she is also planning to work in Australia.
Stefan is from Switzerland and is one of four in his family, with his mother, father and older brother. He likes to play field hockey with his team every week, though he says they are not doing too well this season! After finishing high school, he has worked for a few years as a Landscape Gardener and completed his one year of Military Service. He is interested in plants, animals and other cultures. When deciding to study English, he chose to come to Australia so he could experience the beautiful plants, animals and landscapes of this country. He would also like to learn how to surf while he is here. Stefan wants to learn English to help with travelling and to enable him to teach German to the refugees in his town.
Gaetan is from Belgium and lives with his family, including his mother, father and older brother, near the city of Brussels. During his free time he likes to participate in many different sports, such as hiking, soccer or going to the gym. While studying at a Physical Education school, he has also been working many different jobs in his holidays to save up for his trip to Australia. He wants to study English because it is widely spoken around the world and could be beneficial for his career. He decided to study in Australia because it is a beautiful place that he has never visited before. He also likes to surf, which Australia is perfect for!

Paulo was born in Brazil and lived there until he was 27, when he moved to Germany to study. While studying in Germany, he met his wife and they now live together in Germany with their three children. He also has a father and brother living in Brazil, and another brother living in Perth, Australia. Paulo likes to go surfing, mountain biking and travelling. He works for DHL, which is a German logistics company, in the IT Department. He enjoys his work and has a lot of fun in the workplace. This company is international, with colleagues working in many different parts of the world, which is why he wants to improve his English. He decided to study in Australia so that he could also visit his brother in Perth, surf the many great beaches and to see the beauty of this country.

Alba is from Spain and is one of five siblings in her family including two brothers and two sisters. She works as a bartender and likes snowboarding, watching TV, going out and listening to Techno music. She came to study English in Australia for the beaches and the people, and a lot of her friends travel here too. She hopes to work in Australia so she can practice speaking English and meet people during her time here.
Gwen is from France and arrived in Brisbane last week to visit her step-brother. She also has another step-brother and a step-sister. She loves being outdoors and experiencing local activities, such as surfing in Australia! She also likes to read, do yoga and practice meditation. She worked as an Event Project Manager for a Swiss company, organising weddings, birthday parties, after-parties, team building challenges, and other events. She loves her job but has to work a lot! She is studying English so that she can get a promotion to a better job in Geneva, which requires her to speak English. She has also always dreamed of travelling to Australia and doing a road trip with friends in a van. She hopes to enjoy her free time and meet lots of other travellers to make the most of her experience here.
Leonie is from Germany and has just completed High School. She lives with her mother, older brother, younger sister and younger brother. In her free time she likes to spend time with her friends and family, or go travelling with them. She chose to study English in Australia for her first solo trip because she thinks it is a great country with nice people. Bruna is from Brazil and is one of six in her family, including two brothers and a sister. She likes to go to the beach, be in nature and take her dog for a walk. She works as a Biologist in Brazil and has come to Lexis Byron Bay to learn English for better career opportunities in future. She chose to study in Australia for the hot weather, beautiful country, the many beaches and the access to nature.
Charlotte is from Germany and lives in the city of Munich. She likes playing guitar, windsurfing, skiing and swimming. Two months ago she finished her Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and plans to continue on with her studies in a Masters degree. For this, she needs a good level of English which is why she decided to study in Australia. She chose Lexis Byron Bay because, though it is important to her to learn and improve her English, she also enjoys relaxing on her break from University. She thought Byron Bay would be a perfect mix of relaxing holiday time and learning English. After studying in Byron Bay for two months, she is going to Melbourne for two weeks and then to visit a friend in Hong Kong on her way back to Germany.
Chiara is from Belgium and is one of five in her family, with her mother, father and two brothers, plus their dog called Pazzo. She enjoys travelling, photography, scouts, jogging, swimming and horseback riding. She has just finished High School and is taking a gap year before going to college next year. She would like to improve her English speaking skills to become more fluent and with a better accent. After studying for a month at Lexis Byron Bay she is going to do some volunteer work in Australia before travelling to Fiji and then Florida.
Miji is from Korea and is one of four in her family, with her mother, father and brother. She has always enjoyed make-up and went to Makeup School after finishing her High School studies. She has always wanted to travel overseas. She wants to learn English and travel all around Australia. In the future, she plans to go to a Makeup School in New York.
Bettina is from a small village near Zurich, Switzerland, where she lived with her mother, father and two brothers. She now has a sweet apartment in Zurich where she lives with a friend. In her free time she likes to go out with friends, go snowboarding and generally spend time in the Swiss mountains. She has just completed studies in Social Work last month and is now looking forward to her time in Australia. Her first impression is that it is awesome here!
Liu is from Beijing in China but has lived in New York for the past three years. He has recently become a father to a little baby girl who is now 10 weeks old. His daughter was born in America and he hopes to be able to speak both English and Chinese with her. He loves being in Australia for the nice people, safe food and clean air. He chose to study English in Byron Bay because he believes it is the best location in Australia!
Joane is from Spain and has just arrived in Byron Bay. She hopes to improve her English while here to enhance her future job opportunities and make it easier to communicate with people all over the world when travelling. She is a very active person and enjoys activities such as surfing, sports, photography and managing her website. She has been studying Architecture at University in Barcelona for a few years but there is little work in this area in Spain at the moment. For this reason, she decided to travel to Australia to explore the job prospects in architecture here.

Danny is from Switzerland and lives on a country ranch with 70 horses. He likes diving and playing sports. He has spent the past three years training and working as a gardener, but now wants to travel the world and go diving in many beautiful places. He decided to study English at Lexis Byron Bay to help become a Diving Instructor. He chose to come to Australia for the beautiful country, the great travel options for backpackers, and for the excellent diving locations. In the future he hopes to be diving every day, and his dream is to go cave diving in Mexico and become a Cave Diving Instructor in different locations around the world.
Ana is from Brazil and lives in the beautiful city of Rio de Janeiro. She has been working as an Engineer for four years but now wants to change her career to become a Geography Teacher. Along with this change in career, she also decided that she wants to improve her English, which is why she came to Lexis Byron Bay. She chose to come to Australia because she really likes the culture and the people are happy and respectful of travellers from other countries.
Alessa is from Switzerland and has a huge family, with two sisters and two brothers, plus two adorable dogs. She likes to have fun, laugh, hang out with friends and play sports. She works in Human Resources and is taking five months off work now to travel and enjoy new experiences. He studied at the University of Pisa and worked as an Engineer. He decided to quit his job and learn English, and thought, “Why not study in such a great country?”, which is how he ended up in Australia!
Thomas is from Switzerland and is one of four in his family, with his mother, father and sister. He lives in the city of Zurich and works in Security at banks and museums. He enjoys riding motorbikes, travelling, diving, keeping fit and going out to clubs and bars with his friends. His sister travelled to Australia three years ago and had only positive things to say about her experience. He decided to come to Australia as well to improve his English to help his future studies in Switzerland.
Nicole is from Switzerland and has already spent six months in Perth, about two years ago. She spoke a lot of Swiss German during that time, so has returned to Australia improve her English. After her time in Australia she hopes to find a job back in Switzerland. She really enjoys playing soccer.
Celine is from Switzerland and lives with her family of five. Her father is a farmer, so they have a lot of animals at home. She has just finished her apprenticeship as a nurse. Her hobbies are playing volleyball and skiing. Next year she plans to study Physiotherapy and decided to improve her English before starting this course. She chose to study in Australia to learn a new culture and meet lovely people. She plans to travel for one month in Australia, to Uluru, Sydney and Cairns.
Nozomi is from Japan and is the youngest in her family of five, including an older sister and brother. She enjoys playing sport, watching sport and eating delicious food. As a high school student, she played softball for three years and also played baseball. She also likes photography, using her phone or her favourite camera, and listening to music. Recently she has started listening to English music, such as The Beatles and The Carpenters, to help her learn English. Before coming to Australia, she worked in a Lolly Shop, selling many different types of sweets that she gift wrapped and displayed in the store. She studied English at University, but had trouble with the speaking skills, which is why she decided to come to Australia. She also likes being in nature and living in smaller towns, which is why she chose to study in Byron Bay.
Ana is from Spain and lives in the city of Madrid. She loves playing piano, which she has been taking lessons for over the past year. She also likes spending time with friends, going to the nice bars and cultural locations that Madrid has to offer. She has been working as a nurse in a large hospital but is now seeking new opportunities overseas. It is for this reason that she came to Australia (instead of rainy Great Britain!), to improve her English and, in turn, her future career opportunities.
Corinne is from Switzerland and lives with her mother, younger sister and her two cats, Gigi and Romeo. She loves animals, swimming, reading, listening to music, sunbathing and travelling. She has been working in a hotel for the past three years as a receptionist, breakfast server and servicing rooms. She came to Australia to study English because she likes travelling and meeting new people, and thinks English is a beautiful language. Lukas has been working as a mechanic and spent the last nine months on the road helping people with broken down cars after accidents. Myuri is from Switzerland and lives with her family, including her three younger brothers who she enjoys playing basketball and football with. Her favourite things to do in her free time are playing music and dancing. She has been playing piano for many years, has played guitar and drums a little, and loves to sing in a choir. She also likes riding her bike and being in nature. She has just completed her High School exams and is going to study to become a Primary School Teacher next year. She chose to come to Australia for the warm weather, beautiful landscapes and the natural countryside. In the future, she hopes to pass the Cambridge CAE exam, which is why she is studying at Lexis Byron Bay.

After finishing her English course, she plans to travel through more of Australia, then to New Zealand and Asia.

He is working as an Electronics and Systems Engineer for an IT company. He came to Lexis Byron Bay to study English because the people of Australia are nice and easy-going.
Manuel is from Switzerland and Portugal – he has dual citizenship. He is an only child and his parents live in Porto, Portugal (where the famous wine is from!). He enjoys listening to music, experiencing local cultures and being in nature. He is currently doing an internship to become a salesman and will eventually be working for a large European paper trading company. He decided to study English in Australia because he is fascinated by the lifestyle and nature here. He also wants to learn how to surf in Byron Bay. In the future, he hopes to study Law at university and plans to do a lot of travelling to experience many different cultures.

Astrid is from Belgium and is staying in Australia for the next three months. She completed high school in June and is now taking a gap year to learn English, travel, experience different lifestyles and push the boundaries of her comfort zone. She also hopes to figure out what she wants to study at University next year; regardless of what course she chooses, she wants to study in English which is why she is here! She plans to study for two months at Lexis Byron Bay before travelling for another month in Australia, then to Bali, Asia and New Zealand.
Olli is from Germany and travelled to Australia with his wife, Katrin. He works for a power company in Germany and enjoys playing football, golf and tennis. He wants to study English so that he can communicate with others from all over the world when travelling. After studying at Lexis Byron Bay he is heading north to visit the Great Barrier Reef.
Katrin is from Germany and lives with her husband, Olli. She has a wonderful garden at their home, with a small pond and Koi fish. She enjoys reading and snowboarding. She works as an Economist for a Distribution Service Operator. Her sister lives in the town of Mullumbimby, near Byron Bay, which is why she came here. After studying at Lexis Byron Bay, she will visit Hamilton Island, Airlie Beach, Cairns and Daintree National Park.
Livia is from Brazil and has two brothers and a sister. She enjoys spending time with her friends. She studied Biology at university but has not worked in the area yet. After studying English at Lexis Byron Bay, she hopes to either find work in Australia in the field of Biology or perhaps study a course in Fashion and Design.
Pol is from Spain and studies Sport Science at Barcelona University. He plays Handball at a high level and trains for about five hours on the weekend for this. While studying, he has also been working at Nike in Barcelona for the past two years. He decided to come to Australia to study English because he believes it will help both his life and his career. He chose Lexis Byron Bay for his studies so that he could experience living in a small country town.
Nil is from Spain and has just completed high school. One of his favourite things to do is photography and hopes to one day take the kind of photos that are seen in magazines. Welcome to the six new starters at Lexis Byron Bay this week!
Clara is from Switzerland and is in Australia for a few months of her gap year between finishing high school and starting university. She has always liked soccer, and played it from the time she was a young girl. She even played in the national team for two years, which also helped her improve her German and French skills. In recent years she has given up playing soccer to focus on her school and when she returns to Switzerland she will then move to Berlin to continue improving her German. She plans to spend 6 weeks with us here in Byron Bay and another 6 weeks at the Gold Coast before returning home. She has always dreamed of visiting Australia and is very excited to study English here!
Pauline is from Belgium and has a brother and half-sister. She likes sports, such as going to the gym, skiing and handball. She has just finished high school and, when she returns to Belgium, plans to study at university. She is thinking about becoming an airline Pilot. She came to Australia to study English because she has dreamed of coming here since she was 14. She believes it is the perfect destination, as you can travel and learn English at the same time, while making lots of friends from all over the world. After her studies with Lexis Byron Bay, she plans to work and travel before returning home.
Lucile is from Belgium and lives in the capital of the country, Brussels. She loves to dance and has been practicing everyday for the past four years. Last year she was accepted into a dance company by a choreographer, which she is very excited about! She also loves to travel and visited California in the USA last year with her mother. She has just finished high school where she studied languages (French, German and English) and economics. She came to Australia because she has only ever heard positive things about this country and has always wanted to see it. In the future she wants to become a teacher.
Anna is from Germany and lives in Berlin with her mother. She is a passionate cook and photographer, and also enjoys fashion and culture. She came to Australia to get to know the culture here. She had also heard a lot of good things about the country from her friends and wanted a “seachange”, from the city to the beach, so decided that Australia was the best place for her to learn English. In the future, she plans to study Psychology at university.
Lucia is from Slovakia and is one of five in her family with her parents, sister and brother, plus a dog called Bambi. She likes swimming and cycling. She studied Finance and Investment at university and has worked as a Manager and Interpreter for a local company which conducts business in France. She has been speaking French for five years and is now in Australia to improve her English skills to enhance her job prospects when she returns home. She hopes to speak fluently in English so that she can obtain work as a lifeguard in Australia. She also looks forward to relaxing and having fun during her time here.

He also enjoys music, particularly old school rock and roll, and motorcycles, especially Harley Davidson motorbikes. Roman is from Spain and is one of four in his family, with his parents and his younger brother. He likes to go out with friends, play tennis, watch movies and go to the cinema. He has just completed a degree in Business Administration at university and decided to come to Australia to improve his English before looking for a graduate job. He has previously worked as a beach lifeguard, a waiter, and as a tennis coach. Flurina is from Switzerland and is joining the Cambridge FCE class. She enjoys going to the beach and surfing. She works with delinquent teenagers in Brazil and loves her job! Welcome to the 19 new students starting the General English course this week. Keep reading to find out a little bit about these lovely new students!
Michelle is from Switzerland and has two older siblings, a brother and a sister, plus their Swiss dog called Xira. She enjoys yoga and going for walks with her dog. She studied Visual Communication (graphic design) before doing an Internship at an Advertising Agency in Switzerland. She chose to study English in Australia for the nice beaches and people in this country.
Noori is from Korea and is one of four in her family, including her mother, father and younger sister. She likes Art (drawing and creating things), Education, animals and plants. She studied Environmental Horticulture and has also worked in cafes, which she hopes to continue while in Australia. She hopes to achieve her goals of understanding English movies and learning how to swim while in Australia. She looks forward to experiencing the nature Australia has to offer and is already in love with Byron Bay!
Carole is from Switzerland and lives with her mum and older brother in a small town located between the French and German speaking parts of the country, so she speaks both these languages at home. She likes playing football and is addicted to travel – she has trouble staying in the same place for more than a few months! She has just finished an apprenticeship in Media, creating websites and fliers and helping the company build strong communication and marketing strategies. In the future, she hopes to complete a degree in Tourism Management. She chose to travel to Australia and study English in Byron Bay to enjoy some time off to recharge. After a few months studying here at Lexis Byron Bay, she plans to travel around the country for a month before heading to Queenstown, New Zealand to complete the Cambridge Advanced Certificate.
Julia is from Belgium and is one of six in her family, including her mother, father and three brothers. One brother is a pilot in Germany, another is studying Marketing and the last and youngest is still in school. She enjoys swimming, dancing and reading. She has spent the last four years studying Product Design at a University in Paris. She is now at Lexis Byron Bay because she needs a good level of English to continue her studies at a University in Sydney.
Laura is from Switzerland and has one older brother, who lives with his girlfriend in the same city. She is a very active person and enjoys playing tennis, surfing and running on the beach. She studied to be a teacher and then worked in a Secondary School for a year. In this time, she discovered that the students she was teaching preferred to learn English instead of French, which is why she has decided to refresh her English at Lexis Byron Bay. In the future, she hopes to go on to teach both English and French. She chose to come to Australia because she has heard many good things about this country and would like to improve her surfing skills while she is here.
Saya is from Japan and is one of eight in her family, including her two younger brothers. She enjoys playing the guitar and piano. She is studying Psychology at university in Japan. She came to Australia to study English for the great weather and little time difference to Japan. She has also heard that the Australian people like the Japanese, which helped her decision to come here!
Cristina is from Spain and has two younger siblings, one brother and one sister. She completed her studies in Business Administration three years ago and has since been working for an international company in Madrid. She came to Australia to improve her English, which will help in her career, and because she loves the culture, the surf and the open-minded people. After studying here for a few months, she will return to Spain and work in January of next year.
Yuri is from Japan and lives in a country town surrounded by beautiful nature. The town is famous for a food called ‘Katsumeshi‘. She lives with her mother, father, older sister, older brother and their cute but powerful dog. The dog is called Ame, which means ‘rainy’ in Japanese and was named this way because the weather was rainy on the first day they brought her home! Yuri likes playing sport (especially softball and surfing), watching movies and listening to music. She chose to study English in Byron Bay so she could also go surfing, and hopes to make many new friends while she is here.
Fanny is from France and is one of five in her family, including her mother, father and two brothers. She enjoys trekking, interacting with people from different countries and cultures, and discovering new places. She works as a Special Education teacher, helping children with mental disorders and their families to develop independence and socialisation, as well as understanding and acceptance in the community. She has taken time off from this work to travel and has spent the last six months in India. She is now in Australia to improve her English, particularly to have a better understanding of the words and grammar, so that she can travel around the world with more ease.
Samira is from Switzerland and is one of four in her family, including her mother, father and younger sister. She likes playing volleyball, going out with friends and family, and travelling to many different countries. She was studying to become a Primary School teacher, but is now reassessing what career she would like to do. During this time, she decided to come to Lexis Byron Bay to study English so she could improve her confidence in speaking the language. She chose to travel to Australia because her parents have visited the country and spoke highly of their experience.
Yran is from Brazil and is the youngest of three brothers. He studied Mechanical Engineering and has worked in this area for ten years, and most recently has been working as a Draftsman for a big car company. He quit his job earlier this year to travel around Brazil before coming to Australia. He hopes to enjoy the warm weather here and improve his English.
Anina is from Switzerland and is one of six in her family, including one sister and two brothers. She has a horse called Tomtom and she loves to go riding with him. She enjoys being in nature and walking through the mountains of Switzerland. She has worked for a few years in an office and has had a few months off to enjoy a long holiday. She is now in Australia to improve her English at Lexis Byron Bay before making her way up to Cairns and stopping at all the beautiful places in between!
Charles is from France and has a great older brother. He loves surfing and playing golf with friends. He is studying Law at University and just this year achieved his license. He chose to study English in Australia because it is the best place in the world to surf and a great opportunity to travel and experience another culture. After travelling in Australia, he will return to France to complete his studies to become a Solicitor.
Pauline is from Switzerland and lives with her mother and twin brother. She likes to watch movies at the cinema, having coffee with friends, surfing and keeping fit. She has been working for two years as a Secretary for the Social Service in Switzerland and loves her job. She decided to study English to enhance her career prospects for the future. She came to Australia for the hot weather and because she enjoys surfing. In the future she plans to attain her certificate in English and move into a flat with her best friend.
Jules is from Belgium and is one of five in his family, including his two sisters. He enjoys making movies, playing rugby, golf and squash, and is also learning the ukulele. He is currently in his gap year after finishing school, so is using this time to travel and learn English. Next year he plans to do a course in Cinematic or Political studies. He came to Lexis Byron Bay because he likes the English language and it helps for travel all over the world.
Thomas is from Switzerland and is an only child. He likes to play sports, such as ice hockey in the Winter and soccer in the Summer, as well as swimming in the lake. He works as a Turner and Miller in the metal industry, helping to build parts for cars. He came to Lexis Byron Bay to learn English for his career and for travelling, so he can interact with people from different countries. He hopes to travel around Australia and America in the future.
Minsik is from Korea. He came to Australia to study English and hopes to improve his language skills during his time at Lexis Byron Bay.
Felipe is from Brazil and has a brother, mother and grandmother. He likes sports, such as basketball, and outdoor activities, like climbing, hiking, bike riding, scuba diving and being in nature. He studied Business Administration and now works as a Sales Supervisor for a large beer company. He has always dreamt of coming to Australia to experience the lifestyle and the people. Studying English while he is here will help with his career, but his main motivation was the experience of travel and meeting people from around the world.
Anja is from Switzerland and lives with her boyfriend in Zurich. She works in Sales for the Swiss Postal Service. She came to Australia to learn English and to travel, and plans to stay in the country for the next six months. She is very excited and happy to be living here in Byron Bay!

To celebrate the arrival of all our new students, we enjoyed a BBQ in the front garden. Our BBQ Masterchef (and fabulous teacher) Paul cooked up a storm and the students took advantage of the opportunity to meet each other and start practising their English!

We have three new starters at Lexis Byron Bay this week. Meet Miki, Erika and Yuki!
Miki is from Japan. She likes drawing, watching movies, skiing and swimming. She is in her fourth year of University, studying Architecture. She hopes to travel around Australia to see beautiful or amazing buildings, such as the Sydney Opera House. She would like to improve her English skills to the point of being able to think in both Japanese and English. She would also like to travel and explore this big world that we live in.
Erika is from Brazil. She likes music, especially reggae and electronic music, and enjoys camping at music festivals. She also likes the beach and reading about psychology and psychoanalysis. She has worked as a Hotel Receptionist and as an Assistant Administrator. She hopes to study hospitality in the future to help gain work back in Brazil. In the meantime, she came to study English in Australia because she loves Byron Bay!
Yuki is from Japan. He really likes to travel, most recently he visited India, and he also enjoys playing football. He is in his third year of studing Economics at university, majoring in International Economics, which includes electronic products of China and Korea, the European economy and the American economy. He enjoys speaking English and came to Lexis Byron Bay to improve his skills so that he can work in different countries in the future.

Laetitia is from Switzerland and is one of four in her family, including her mother, father and older sister. She likes to spend time with her friends and family, listen to music and go horesriding. She has just completed her studies at Business School and hopes to work in tourism. She chose to study with Lexis Byron Bay to improve her English and because she has always dreamt of visiting Australia.
Jain is from Korea and lives with her close-knit family of her mother, father, grandmother and sister. She is interested in religion and studies management at university, at the School of Christianity. She enjoys playing musical instruments, including the piano, guitar and violin. She is interested in working in Management for Developing Countries in the future, and needs to be able to communicate with foreigners. She came to Lexis Byron Bay so she could improve her English to achieve this goal.
Antoine is from Belgium and is one of five in his family, including his two older brothers. He likes playing soccer, guitar, surfing and hanging out with friends. In Belgium he works in the shop that his parents own. Next year, he will be studying at a new school in Holland. Antoine came to Australia to learn English because he enjoys surfing and likes the variety of animals we have here.
Caterina is from Switzerland and is one of four in her family. She has a fantastic sister who she gets along really well with and all of her family are quite sporty. She likes listening to music and practicing circus arts. She is studying English so that she can get into tourism and event work. She plans to also live in the German part of Switzerland to improve this language as well.
Denise is from Brazil and lives with her husband and their pet cat. She is a fashion designer and has a range of homemade accessories, such as necklaces, bracelets and rings, that they make during the week to sell on Saturdays and over the internet. She came to Australia because her husband loves to surf. They travel a lot, so learning English is important to her. She hopes to build a pop-up store to travel her own country selling her fashion accessories.
Natsumi is from Japan and is one of four in her family, including her mother, father and younger sister. She enjoys watching movies and her favourite film is ‘Funny Face’. She studies Psychology at University and finds it very interesting and useful at times. She would like to study English to improve her speaking and listening skills, so that she can communicate with her foreign friends.
Mariko is from Japan and joins us in Byron Bay for the English in Action: Yoga course. She lives with her family of her mother, father, brother and grandmother. She works at a wedding company, welcoming people when they arrive at wedding receptions. She enjoys her work, because the guests are always happy which makes her happy too! She came to study English in Byron Bay to try new things and to have a holiday.
Kazumi is from Japan. She loves being in nature and likes to go for regular surfing and camping trips with her friends. She studied at university then worked for 3 years as a Web Designer. She then went to Malta to learn English before travelling in Europe. After completing more studies in PHP programming, she got another job as a Web Designer. She has just left that job to come to Australia because she loves travelling and wants to improve her English.
Angela is from Spain and joins us in Byron Bay for the English in Action: Yoga course.

Yoshi is from Japan and is one of six in his family, including his mother and father, two sisters and one brother. He likes to ride his motorbike and enjoys drinking a beer with his awesome friends. After finishing High School earlier this year, he then worked in a restaurant before travelling to Australia. He chose to come here for the great weather, beautiful beaches and hopes to work on a farm. In the future, he would like to live and work in London.
Vanessa is from Switzerland and is one of four in her family with her parents and an older brother. She enjoys swimming, reading, hanging out with friends, snowboarding and travelling. She worked as a Front Office Manager in a hotel before following her dream to travel to Australia. She is studying English at Lexis to improve her travelling experience while in Australia! In the future she hopes to move to Sweden to live and work.
Priscilla is from Switzerland and lives with her family of five including her mother, father and two younger sisters. She likes travelling, cooking, gymnastics and going to the beach, and works with young children in a kindergarten. She decided to study English here so that she can meet her relatives in Australia. She would also like to learn to surf in Byron Bay! She hopes to do two more years of study when she returns to Switzerland, before settling down and starting a family.
Ethan is from Korea and lives with his family in Seoul. He likes to go to the beach and swim, and would like to learn how to surf during his time here in Byron Bay. He studied English in High School and hopes to continue improving on what he has learnt. When he was a child, Ethan visited Australia for one month and felt it was a very good country. He now returns to learn English and chose Byron Bay for the variety of foreigners who live and travel through this area.
Othman is from Saudi Arabia. He enjoys football, tennis and PS4, as well as going to the beach with his family. He came to Australia to learn English, which he needs in order to study at university. He chose to spend his time with Lexis in Byron Bay because he is the only student from Saudi Arabia here, so he will be able to totally immerse himself in the English language.

We have two new starters at Lexis Byron Bay this week.
Momoko is from Japan and loves to travel. She travels once or twice each year, and has visited many different places in Japan including Okinawa, Hokkaido and Hakone. In Japan she works as a Care Worker for handicapped adults and children at a hospital. While it is a difficult job, she loves it and is already looking forward to seeing her patients again when she returns home. Momoko chose to study in Australia to take advantage of the Working Holiday Visa. She hopes to visit lots of different places in Australia and to really experience the Aussie culture.
Nuria is from Spain and is a returning student at Lexis Byron Bay. Since graduating from her previous course with us in May, she travelled and studied in many different places around Australia, such as up the Queensland coast to Cairns and Port Douglas. Even after seeing so much of the country, she still loves Byron Bay so much that she wanted to finish off her studies with us here!

Hinako is from Japan and is one of five in her family. She lives with her mother, father, two sisters and lots of pet dogs! She believes it is important to learn English and came to Australia to study because her sister said the country is so good. In the future, she looks forward to starting her own family.
Chae is from Korea and is one of four in her family, with her parents and her older sister, plus their puppy. She works as a Swimming Instructor in Korea and likes to exercise. She also enjoys playing the piano. She likes the animals, fresh air and sea here, and has always dreamed of visiting Australia, which is why she came to study English in Byron Bay. After studying for four weeks at Lexis she hopes to find a job to work and live here for her Working Holiday.
Leticia is from Brazil and is one of five in her family, with her parents and two sisters. Her father and one of her sisters is also studying in Australia, on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. She likes art, painting, making clothes, being in nature, reading books, listening to music and going to festivals. She is studying English because it is so useful for travel and work. She chose to study in Australia because it is a pretty country with beautiful nature and a great lifestyle. She will stay in Australia for some time to improve her English and hopes to do a course in yoga, art, photography or travel before returning to Brazil to study Psychology.
Maria is from Spain and is one of five in her family, with her parents, brother and sister. She loves living a healthy life, playing sports and the ocean. She likes to go scuba diving, practice martial arts and generally participating in other sports. She works as an Economist in a large multinational company in Spain. She does not have any set plans for the future, but is just looking forward to doing the things that she enjoys. She chose to study English in Byron Bay for the great lifestyle. She has always dreamed of visiting the Great Barrier Reef, so will visit this icon while in Australia.

This week we have eight new starters joining us at Lexis Byron Bay. Meet Nagomi, Esther, Maria, Carla, Romane, Martina, Edna and Rika.
Nagomi is from Japan and enjoys listening to English music. Her favourite song is “Don’t stop believing”, which was the first song she could sing in English. She also likes the sea and nature, which is why she wanted to study English in Australia. She hopes to be able to speak English well so that one day she can be an Interpreter.
Esther is from Spain and and likes being active, especially with swimming and pilates. She works in Marketing at a bank in Madrid, and needs to use English in her job almost daily. She decided to study English here because it has always been her dream to visit Australia. She has always thought the quality of life, beaches and weather in Australia make it a great country to live in. She hopes to see a koala and kangaroo before she leaves the country!
Maria is from Spain and lives in a small town in the Pyrenees Mountains. She works as a Ski Instructor in the Winter, and as a Waitress in a restaurant in the Summer. She looked at many places to visit in Australia before deciding to visit Byron Bay because it looks like paradise! She wants to improve her English at Lexis to improve her chances of finding work here.
Carla is from Spain and likes to surf and snowboard. She works as a Snowboarding Instructor, as a Waitress and at a Surf shop. She decided to study English at Lexis Byron Bay because Australia is such a nice place. She hopes to stay in Australia for a long time and make the most of this new experience!
Romane is from Belgium. She started her travels in Western Australia, where she spent three weeks learning English at Lexis Perth. She has joined us at Lexis Byron Bay to continue improving her English for another three weeks before returning home.
Martina is from Switzerland and loves riding horses and skiing. She chose to study English in Australia because it is a beautiful country that is so different from her own. She will spend six weeks with us in Byron Bay, enjoying the beaches and maybe even spotting some whales and other animals. Then she will spend some time in Queensland on a horse ranch before returning home.
Edna is from Brazil and is living in Australia with her husband and son on the Gold Coast. Her husband is a musician and her son goes to Primary School. She is studying at Lexis Byron Bay so that she can improve her English.
Rika is from Japan and enjoys listening to music and ballet dancing. She has been practicing ballet since she was just three years old. She came to Australia because she would like to be able to speak English, so that she can make friends with people from many different countries.

Emilio & Haruna
Emilio is from Spain and is one of four in his family. He has a brother who is five years older and also lives in Australia. Emilio enjoys playing basketball, music and playing the guitar. He is studying at university to become a Mining Engineer and believes that being able to speak English will improve his chances of finding work in Spain. He chose to come to Australia to study English because he likes to travel and wanted to immerse himself in an English-speaking culture.
Haru is from Japan and is one of five in her family, with one older and one younger brother. She enjoys playing piano, walking, picking edible plants with her mother in the Spring, and playing with her dog Momo. She has worked as a waitress in a hotel, on a rice and vegetable farm, an in a Japanese sweet factory. She hopes to improve her English and find work in Australia.

Meet our new students Ugi, Edoardo, Carlo, Annie and Emil.
Annie is from Switzerland and is the “Sandwich Child” – the middle child of three sisters. She enjoys acting, singing, watching movies and meeting friends. One year ago, Annie completed her Commercial Apprenticeship and has been working for a company that sells children’s playgrounds. She came to Australia to learn English so that she could travel and visit new places. After two months in Australia, she plans to travel in New Zealand for 4 weeks. She also hopes to study in England so that she can speak English fluently.
Carlo is from Italy, but has been living in Switzerland while working as a Tutor and Researcher at University. He is a Dentist, specialising in aesthetic and cosmetic dentistry. His favourite hobby is photography. Through his work, Carlo attends international conferences, which is why he wants to improve his English. He hopes to have an amazing holiday here, discovering the beauty and culture of Australia.
Emil is from Russia and came to Australia to visit his sister who lives in Byron Bay. He wanted to study at Lexis because it is important to him to learn English.
Ugi is from Korea and is one of four in his family. He likes playing soccer and trying new things. He wanted to study in Australia and really likes Byron Bay already, because of the beaches and the kind people. He hopes to work in Byron Bay and continue speaking and learning English.
Edoardo is from Italy and likes playing sports. He is studying Economic Business and would like to work in Marketing one day. He enjoys travelling and discovering new cultures, which is part of the reason why he chose to study English in Australia. In the future, he hopes to find a great job, travel a lot and have a family.

Victor is from Mauritius, though he was born in Belgium. He loves to play tennis and will be learning to surf during his time in Byron Bay. Victor wants to improve his English while at Lexis and hopes to study at a university in Australia one day.
Ernesto is from Spain and is studying Law and Business at university. He likes playing sports, such as field hockey and other team sports. He came to Byron Bay to improve his English and to learn how to surf.
Fuka is from Japan and works at a restaurant where she has learnt a lot about cooking. She enjoys surfing, yoga, snowboarding and cooking. Fuka has always wanted to speak English well, which is why she has come to study at Lexis Byron Bay!
Jaeeun is from Korea and studied International Trade at university. She has worked for an Electronics company in Korea and has also spent two years living and working in Japan. Jaeeun has been in Australia for 3 months but was finding it difficult to communicate with all her new friends, so has decided to learn English with Lexis in Byron Bay.

Meet Sua, our new student at Lexis Byron Bay this week!
Sua is from Korea and is one of four in his family. He enjoys watching horror movies and cooking. Sua studied and worked in Physics back in Korea but would like to run his own business in the future, running a pub, restaurant or guest house. He is learning English in Australia to challenge himself, travel and meet new people.

Valerie is from France and is a nurse who has worked in hospital, clinical and home environments specialising in child and cancer patients. She enjoys travelling, nature, art, culture, spending time with friends, jogging, yoga and meditation. She is starting her travel in Australia to discover the landscapes and to learn English so she can speak with and understand the people she meets along the way.
Masumi is from Japan and is one of four in her family. She enjoys music, sports, exercise, going for walks, going to the beach and travel. She is in Australia to learn English so that she can talk to people all around the world.
Rodrigo is from Spain and likes to go skiing, snowboarding and surfing. He is an Interior Design student and works as a Ski Instructor. He is learning English in Byron Bay so he can use English in his work, teaching ski students from different countries, and to be able to talk with people of all nationalities.
Jongwon is from Korea and studied Train Electronics at College. He likes watching movies and listening to music. He has always dreamt of living in another country to experience the different cultures and lifetsyles, and plans to continue travelling all over the world for the next few years. He came here to learn English because Australia is very peaceful and friendly.
Rafael is from Spain and is a Law graduate with a Masters in Finance. He loves sports and likes to work out every day. He chose to come to Australia to study English because of the friendly, inclusive people.
Tom is from France and was born in the Ivory Coast. He is from a family of five, with his parents, younger brother and younger sister who still live in Africa. He enjoys fishing, surfing, and practising judo and jiujitsu. He completed a degree in Aquaculture and has worked at a fish farm. After studying at Lexis, he hopes to move up to Cairns to work on a tuna farm or do some fruit picking while visiting the surrounding national parks.

Today we welcome three new starters, Gaspard, Fuki and Juliano, and one returning student, Shinsuke, to Lexis Byron Bay.
Gaspard is from France and is a student at High School. He really enjoys surfing and playing rugby. He is studying English in Byron Bay so that he can surf the perfect waves and see the unique animals of Australia. He hopes to improve his English so that he can pass his test in France next year. He also hopes to improve his surfing while experiencing the famous surf of Australia.
Fuki is from Japan and is one of five in his family, which is made up of all boys except his mother! They also have a family dog. He has been surfing since he was three-years-old and enjoys making videos with his old-style camera.
Juliano is from Brazil and is one of five in his family, with parents who have been married for 41 years! He enjoys playing soccer and other sports, computer games and history. He has studied Civil Engineering and worked in construction and running a food truck. He has always dreamed of visiting Australia, and thought it would be a perfect opportunity to study English too.

Today we have eight new students joining the Lexis family in Byron Bay!
Barbara is from Switzerland and has moved to Australia with her family of four. She worked in Social Work back in Switzerland and hopes to do something similar here. Barbara is studying at Lexis Byron Bay because she wants to improve her English for living in Australia.
Seohyun is from Korea and is one of four in her family. She enjoys singing. She needs to learn English for her job and would like to develop her confidence in using English during her time at Lexis Byron Bay.
Isabella is from Brazil and lives with her family near Sao Paulo. Her parents run a marina and hotel, which Isabella also works at. She has always enjoyed water sports such as skiing and wakeboarding, and also enjoys cooking in the restaurant. She studied Food Engineering at University but decided she does not want to work in the industry. Isabella wants to improve her English and find some work with food while in Australia, to see what opportunities come her way. She is also here to travel, meet new people and absorb as much culture as she can.
Victoria is from Spain and is one of four in her family, who are very important in her life despite living so far from them. She studies Law and Business at Madrid University and though she enjoys it, she is not sure that she wants to be a lawyer or business-person. She loves nature and living a simple, healthy life. She likes to learn through experience instead of books and is looking forward to improving her English in the interesting, fun and beautiful place of Byron Bay, Australia.
Younes is from France and lives with his father, mother, older brother and younger sister. He is a High School student and hopes to one day be a pilot. Younes likes to play tennis, computer games and sports in general. He is studying English in Australia because of the good weather and wonderful views, and he would like to surf while he is here.
Richard is from Brazil and likes to go skydiving and travelling. He studied Computer Science and worked as an IT Analyst in Brazil. He is studying in Australia so he can learn English and work towards becoming fluent, which will help him get a better job back at home.
Vanessa is from Brazil and studied Administration at University. She worked in Human Resources before coming to Australia. Vanessa enjoys living near the beach, meeting new people and appreciating the sky, sun and smiles on people’s faces. She came to Byron Bay to study English because it is a small town which is calm, very green, has beautiful beaches and is peaceful. In the future, she hopes to speak English very well!
Alexia is from Brazil and is going to live in Australia for the next year and a half. She has also lived in France, South Africa and Malta. Alexia wants to learn how to speak English very well while she is living in Australia and, afterwards, hopes to move to Europe.

Saki is from Japan and graduated from college in March this year. She studied Law, majoring in Labour Law and hopes to live and work abroad in the future. She enjoys yoga, sports, photography, the beach and organic foods. While living and studying in Byron Bay, she would like to improve her English, learn to surf and make many new friends!

Welcome to our new starter this week, Naoko! She is from Japan and transferred here from Lexis Perth. Naoko is already enjoying the Byron Bay lifestyle and hopes to visit the Nimbin markets and learn to surf while she is here. She will be with us at Lexis for four weeks and hopes to find work so she can continue living in this beautiful corner of Australia.

This week we have four new starters at Lexis Byron Bay. Welcome to Simon, Antoine, Blanka and Paola!
Paola is from Brazil where she works as a Forest Engineer. Her job involves studying different species of plants for use in alternative energy, such as bamboo, and their production or destination materials. She enjoys the beach, trees, animals, plants, stones…everything in nature! She also likes doing yoga and loves her pet cat, Mia. Paola chose to study in Australia for the great weather, nature and people that we have to offer here. She hopes to travel in Australia, to the Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, and further abroad to Indonesia and other countries in Asia.
Simon is from Switzerland and lives with his family of four including his mother, brother and dog. He completed an apprenticeship and has been working as an Electrician. When he returns to Switzerland, he will start school to become a Police Officer. In his free time, Simon enjoys sports, such as tennis and snowboarding. He came to Australia to study English because he wants to learn to surf while he is here and would like to travel around the country too.
Blanka is from Italy and has just graduated from the University of Rome with a degree in Biology. She used to compete at an international level in Fencing, but gave it up to pursue her studies. She will continue her university course in September, studying Neurobiology. Blanka enjoys doing yoga and scuba diving, and is studying at Lexis Byron Bay because she wants to improve her English.
Antoine is from Belgium and has transferred to Byron Bay from Lexis in Brisbane where he started his English studies in Australia. He is here on a Working Holiday and hopes to find work in Byron Bay.

Han Yong and Aya
Aya is from Japan and is one of six in his family, including his sister’s husband and son (who he loves most of all!). He enjoys swimming, listening to music and studying English, and has been studying English over the internet for the past five years. Aya hopes to improve his English so that he can live and work overseas in the future.
Han Yong is from Korea and is one of five in his family, including his dog Bong Gu. He trained as a Boxer during his High School years and now enjoys this as a hobby. He has been working as a Manager of Distribution and Marketing for a food company before coming to Australia. He now hopes to improve his English and get a visa to stay in Australia.
Lisa is from Switzerland and is a returning student. After studying in Byron Bay earlier this year, she has been travelling and doing further study at the Lexis Perth campus. She joins us again to continue improving her English with us at Byron Bay for the next two weeks.

This week we have four new students at Lexis Byron Bay. Welcome to Lucas, PedroNatsumi and Marina!
Lucas is from Brazil and is an artist. He completed a Graphics Design course and works as an Illustrator and Tattoo Artist. He came to Australia because it always seemed like a great place to visit, and was drawn to the beach at Byron Bay. Lucas hopes to extend his student visa to study an Arts course in painting and other new techniques.
Pedro is from Brazil and worked as an Electrical Engineer. He enjoys exercising every day and loves to cook, and is hoping to get some work in a restaurant, bakery or coffee shop during his time here. He came to Australia because he thinks it is an amazing country and he has some friends living in the area who are enjoying the great Byron lifestyle! Pedro hopes to become fluent in English and possibly apply to study at a Cooking College or similar.
Natsumi is from Japan and grew up in Amami-ohshima, an island off the south of Japan. She is the youngest in her family of six. Natsumi studied Sports Science and enjoys going for walks, reading books and watching movies.
Marina is from Switzerland and is living in a small village called Saas-Fee. There are no cars are allowed in the village and she prefers the clean air of the village compared to living in a larger town or city. She used to work as a Sales Assistant before but now enjoys her job as a waitress in the tourist town. Marina is in Australia for just six weeks and after her four weeks with Lexis she plans to do some travelling up the east coast.
