Uno always proves to be the most popular but we’ll be trying some new games in the coming months! Suggestions welcome 🙂

Josie enjoyed chatting and playing Uno with some of her CAE class, as well as getting to know other students from our General English courses!

Coffee Club! 16th January

Today at Coffee Club we played President (known by the students as asshole!)

Many countries have their own variations, but you can find the general rules here: https://www.pagat.com/climbing/president.html

We played the German version as it was Dano who first explained the game!

The game was of course accompanied by Tim Tams and Coffee!

Coffee Club! 12 December

Today’s Coffee Club had a special host; teacher Claudia!

Claudia really enjoyed hanging out with the students and getting to know those she has never taught before!

She also enjoyed the Tim Tams and games! As I’m sure the students did too!!

Coffee Club! 5 December

Today at Coffee Club we enjoyed a few rounds of Scattergories with our coffees and Tim Tams!!

For those who aren’t familiar with Scattergories; it’s a fun game to play when you only have a few minutes to spare, but also a game you can play for hours!

You pick different categories and then take it in turns to say a letter (do the alphabet in your head until someone shouts stop). Everyone then has to list something beginning with that letter for each of the categories! The time is up when the first person shouts out that they have a word for each and you then score 10 points if you are the only person with that word, or 5 if someone has the same word!

There were some questionable answers and a heated debate on whether mushrooms were a vegetable, but everyone scored a 10 out of 10 for effort 🙂

Coffee Club! 21 November

We may soon have to rename ‘Coffee Club’ ‘Uno Club’, as whenever I ask what game the students would like to play this is always the winner!

Myself and regular players Lydie, Charlotte and Maya were joined today by Haruki, Han, Choi and Maxime, who started Lexis just yesterday but is already settling in very well and making friends!

Coffee Club! 10th October

Yesterday at Coffee Club we played 3 variations of Uno!

Between us we had three different sets of rules we play by, so we thought it would be fair to have a turn with each!

We started with my rules (the official Uno rules 😉 ), then Marta explained the Italian rules to us: you can put down after forfeit cards and also put down all your cards of any colour at once if they’re the same number.

We then played by Lydie and Charlotte’s Swiss rules, where you can put down at any time if you have the same colour and number; a much faster paced game but slightly confusing to then know who’s turn it is (for me at least, who lost!)
