WHITES BEACH – Gabriel M Pacheco

I went to Whites Beach in Byron Bay a few weeks ago, and it was one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen.

I was with 3 friends of mine, with one surfboard and it was such a beautiful day. We parked the car at Broken Heads and took the trail to the beach.

The day was clean and the water was beautiful, the surf was good, and the beach was deserted.

The beaches in Byron are already beautiful but this one was stunning!

We drank some beers and surfed a bit, it was one of the best days of my trip here in Australia.

I would recommend it to anyone who likes beaches with fewer people than the famous one for example.

Take some beers with you and have a beautiful day!

9. A night out in Byron

Byron is small with a big town feel and it certainly has enough pubs, clubs, and bars for everyone. There’s live music on most nights of the week but the weekend is when it really heats up with local musicians playing in the streets. You only need to walk around to discover them for yourself!

10. Sunrise from Byron Bay Lighthouse

The Lighthouse walk is a must. Get up early to see the sunrise or take a picnic and watch the sunset! The Lighthouse sits on Australia’s most easterly point and the views are amazing! The walking trail from Byron Bay’s Main Beach to the Lighthouse will take you around 45 minutes each way. It’s also worth taking a detour down to Little Watagos beach.

Bodyboarding! March 14th

Header
Today we all met at Lexis reception at 11am for today’s activity – bodyboarding!

We all walked together in the beautiful sunshine down to the centre of Byron. First stop was to the lovely people of Let’s go Surfing, where we picked up our bodyboards and extra sunscreen. Next stop – Main Beach! 😀

And they’re off! 😀

We made sure to swim at the area where the lifeguards were on duty. Look out for the flag poles to keep away from any rips and stay safe! 🙂

Keep an eye on the March Activity Calendar for our upcoming activities – if you love water sports, you will see we are also doing a surf lesson at the end of the month! 😉

Living and Studying in Byron Bay – An interview with Santi!

SANTI

Santi is from Valencia, Spain and has been at Lexis Byron Bay for 20 weeks, studying in the FCE and CAE classes.

12825441_10156565703720612_1956726555_n

Santi decided to study in Australia so that he could improve his English. He wanted to travel to a place far from home with good weather, beaches and surf. He has always wanted to visit Australia, so studying here was a natural choice!

When he first arrived in Australia, Santi spent the first month in Sydney before coming to Byron Bay. While he did really like Sydney, he prefers living in Byron Bay as he enjoys the relaxed travelers lifestyle here. It is an easy town to get to know, while still having many special places to discover and explore.

There are many things about Byron Bay that Santi believes makes this place so special. His favourite things are the beautiful beaches, feeling like you are living in nature all the time, and the good friends he has made here.

During his time here, Santi has held a job for 4 months working in a pizza place in the nearby town of Brunswick Heads. He felt that he was able to find a good balance with working after finishing school each day and that the work environment and his colleagues really helped him improve his English.

Santi recommends studying at Lexis Byron Bay, whether it is for just one month or for a whole year. He thinks the staff are great and says that the teachers are helpful, listen to the students and are very good at helping you to improve your English. When Santi first arrived in Australia, he had a difficult time understanding the Australian accent. Now, he feels that he has developed his English to an almost fluent level that he is very happy with.

After first studying in FCE and then moving up to CAE, Santi has found the classes to improve his English in all areas. While the exam format of these classes are similar, he found that CAE is at a more advanced level which has enabled him to expand his skills in speaking, grammar and vocabulary. In both classes he has enjoyed the learning environment and said the teachers are fantastic. 12834493_10156565703920612_1100447175_n

Santi believes Byron Bay is such a unique place even compared to other places in Australia. There is always something happening in town, from the variety of live music to the great waves and good  surf at the beaches. The feeling Santi gets from Byron Bay is very special, including from all the nice people both living here and travelling through.

12714198_10156464023015612_109890388_n

After Santi completes his studies at Lexis Byron Bay in two weeks time, he will travel to Sydney for two days before flying to Bali to meet up with some other Lexis friends there. When he returns to Spain, he plans to study International Business at University. For this he believes his level of English will be very helpful in the future.
