Talented Chef/Cook Required

Byron Bay, NSW

Elixiba Restaurant and Bar has quickly become a hot destination on the Byron Bay foodie scene. In the past four years, we have won numerous awards and been recognised time and again for our ingenuity and “ahead of the curve” way of doing things.

Located in central Byron Bay, our beautiful venue holds an unmatched opportunity for the right candidate:

We don’t usually like to brag, but have no qualms doing so when it comes to our staff: we really do have the best team ever. The only thing missing is a talented, passionate cook or chef who is looking to step into a kitchen manager role.

What we offer:

  • 38 hours a week, with no unpaid overtime expected
  • A great, positive work environment. Our team is hard working and respectful, holds a no-bullying policy, and unflinchingly supports one another through everything.
  • Work/lifestyle balance! We believe that staff members work the best when they are not being overworked and undervalued. At least two days off in a row each week, and a flexible roster.
  • Career progression and professional development. Our current kitchen management team holds a combined twenty years of cooking experience, so there is a lot to learn from us. We are one of the only restaurants in Australia with a focus on plant based, allergen friendly, sustainable cooking (and as anyone who has had a meal with us will tell you, our food is anything but boring). With plans to expand in the future, this role has a strong potential to lead to a head chef position in the future.

The right candidate’s profile would be…

  • Experience in a similar role (2 years preferred)
  • Cheffing qualification a bonus, but not required if you have adequate cooking experience
  • Ability to co-lead our kitchen team and serve as a role model for our staff
  • Love for healthy living and a respect for the plant based diet
  • Hunger for learning
  • Able to work nights and hold energy levels (3-5 a week, almost always out by 10PM) as well as available on weekends.
  • Respectful, calm, kind individual (we don’t have time for disrespect, unnecessary stress-outs or negativity)
  • Wants to stay with the company long term (must commit to at least one year)

This opportunity is almost unheard of in the cooking world, so we’re expecting to hire someone who’s equally amazing! Someone with ridiculous talent, work ethic and goals! If that’s you, then what are you waiting for?
