It was a crafty kind of Wednesday for the students at Lexis Byron Bay with our free activity…
Dream Catcher Making!
We had a range of different fabrics and materials to work with and an assortment of beads, feathers and shells to decorate with.
The first step was to cover the hoop with with twine, wool or fabric so that you could no longer see the metal underneath. We then looped the twine around the hoop to form the web. It is difficult in the beginning, but once you get the hang of it, it becomes much easier. We then added decorative beads and feathers to the base of the dream catcher to complete our master pieces. They looked fantastic!!
Previously students have given them as a gift (often to their homestay families!), hung them in their vans before going off traveling, decorated their bags with them, and taken them home as a souvenir of their time in Byron! Or they can use them for their original purpose and simply hang them in their rooms to protect them from bad dreams!
