New Starters! 12 November

Welcome to our eleven new students joining us at Lexis Byron Bay today!


Mary is from the German part of Switzerland, in the Swiss alps. Her hobbies include painting and writing. She also enjoys sports, particularly rock climbing, yoga and of course hiking in the alps! She works as a painter, but will find farm work whilst in Australia so she can save money to travel!

Nuria is from Barcelona, Spain. She likes to practice sports and go on adventures with her friends. She also enjoys going to cultural events, listening to music and taking her dog for a walk in the mountains. She studied sports at college and has since worked in a climbing centre. She wants to improve her English for travel and work!

Antonella is from Beunos Aires, Argentina. She is a freelance graphic designer and is training to become a yoga teacher. She wants to improve her English so she can meet people from all over the world and have a good job. She chose Australia for her studies because it is a wonderful place, beautiful beaches and the people who live here are very nice!

Rikiya is from Japan. He enjoys watching soccer, reading book and manga. He is studying at medical school to become a doctor. He chose Australia because his brother said it was a fun place to be! Also because it is a beautiful place and he is happy to be here for the summer season! As well as studying English he is also doing our surf programme, so will be improving at two things during his 6 weeks at Lexis!!

David is from the German speaking part of Switzerland. His biggest passion is racing drones. He builds them himself, connecting a camera on the front, then wears goggles that send him a live feed of where the drone is going! He has completed an apprenticeship as a technical engineer for air conditioning but next would  like to study something more creative. He is here in Byron Bay to gain some life experience as well as improving his English!

Yonghun is Korean, but grew up in Japan. He lives in Japan with his wife, daughter and son. He has worked for 30 years as an x ray technician in a hospital. He enjoys surfing so is looking forward to catching some waves in Byron during his free time; this is the main reason he chose Lexis Byron for his studies!

Madoka is from Japan. She likes reading comics and listening to music. She also enjoys sports and has practiced karate for 7 years. She graduated from studying Physics at University in September, then visited France before coming here to Byron! When she returns to Japan she will start work at a trading company and needs English for this job. When she has finished her 5 weeks of study with us she will visit Cairns with her mum.

Maria is from Spain. Her biggest passion is playing the piano. She studied Business Administration at University but is now thinking of training to become a yoga teacher. She decided to come to Australia to improve her English because she would like to learn about another countries culture and have some fun!

Cynthia is from the French speaking part of Switzerland. She loves sports, particularly skiing, cycling, football and hockey. She works for the postal service in Switzerland. After her 12 weeks of study she will travel Australia, and this is her main reason for wanting to improve her English!

Giuseppe is from Florence, Italy. He studies and works within agriculture there. He wants to improve his English as he feels it is important for many things, including getting to know people from other countries and cultures. His biggest passion is travelling and he has visited many places and plans on visiting many more!

Mai is from Japan. She loves music, with her favourite being hip hop. She also loves skateboarding. She chose Byron Bay for her studies because she loves the sunshine and wants to learn to surf! She is here to improve her English because she has a year working holiday visa in Australia and would then like to travel to California!
