Welcome to our four General English students joining us Lexis Byron Bay today!
Roberta, from Brazil, has been living in Australia with her husband and two daughters since last December. They chose to stay in Byron because they loves beaches and sunny days! Roberta also loves yoga and has been teaching it for the past 5 years. They are very happy here in Byron and hope to stay for a while, describing it as ‘the best place to be’!
Guillermo is from Chile. He has just finished his studies in Civil Engineering. He enjoys spending time with his friends, doing sports, drinking beers and travelling around the world! He came to Australia because of his three main goals: improve his English, surf, and meet new people from different countries and cultures!
Nina is from the West Coast of France. She worked as a nurse in France and then lived on a French island in the Caribbean until it was sadly destroyed by a cyclone. She has just done 2 months work on a pearl farm in Western Australia and is now here in Byron to enjoy the weather, surf and improve her English!
Alya is from France. Her favourite pastimes include drama and the movies. She loves to go to the beach and is taking part in our surf programme while here. Since last September she has been living in Bali where she studies at a French school. She chose to study English in Australia because she thinks it is one of the most beautiful countries in the world and it will be good for her to improve her English, surf and learn about other cultures.

Congratulations and farewell to our three students graduating from Lexis Byron Bay today!
Keigo, from Japan, graduates from Michelle’s Pre-Intermediate class. He has improved in all areas of his English since starting with us in Elementary 12 weeks ago. He has been a hard working student who interacted well with others. We wish you the very best for the future Keigo!
Chihiro, from Japan, graduates from Mel and Julia’s Intermediate class. It has been an absolute joy having her here at Lexis, with her positivity and bright smile! Her knowledge of grammar is excellent and it is no surprise she is graduating with an A! She has made lots of friends in her short time here and will be missed very much!
Noriyuki, from Japan, graduates from our Elementary class. His teacher Kristy says she has enjoyed teaching him and likes that he always thinks carefully about things and asks questions. Enjoy using your new language and good luck with your next adventure Nori!
Yesterday for our Brazilian Cooking activity we made the traditional Brazilian dessert Brigadeiros!
It’s very simple to make; just mix 1 tin of sweetened condensed milk, 15 grams of butter and 3 table spoons of cocoa powder over medium heat until thickened.
Once they the mixture had cooled down we covered our hands in butter (stops it sticking!) and rolled it into balls!
Next we covered the balls in candy sprinkles, granulated nuts, shredded coconut and chocolate sprinkles!
I’ve given up chocolate for the month (5 days to go!!) and this was by far the hardest day! Everyone else was able to enjoy them though and said they were delicious!
See Sarah from Happy Travels to sign up for the weekend trips! She is in the student lounge Mondays, Wednesdays and Friday from 12pm til 3pm, or you can pop into their store on Jonson Street!
