Today’s Boomerang Painting didn’t have as many participants as usual, as most of the students headed straight to the beach after class!
Sometimes it’s hard competing with the beautiful weather, stunning beaches and great waves!

Yesterday at Coffee Lounge we enjoyed coffees and Tim Tams in the sun!
We played a couple of games of Uno, which Yurij and Elisa won!
Then Jenga with questions, with me being the first for it to fall on, after I’d already tripped backwards over the box of coffees knocking them over the floor , followed by spilling my water all over myself! Very clumsy day for me!! Let’s hope next week I manage Coffee Lounge without any accidents / embarrassments!

September sees another great month of FREE activities for our students!
We start the month and end the week with Body Boarding! Meet at reception at 2pm and we’ll head down to the beach together for your free board hire!
On the 4th our new Cambridge course starts, so this calls for a Welcome Party!! We’ll be supplying pizza and drinks for everyone to enjoy in the garden!
We have another celebration at the end of the week, with our End of Course BBQ on the 8th!
We have a couple of cooking activities where 2 of our students will be sharing their passion with you! The first one is with Johana who will be teaching us to make the popular Peruvian dish Ceviche on the 6th. We then have Bianca showing us some Simple, Healthy and Cheap Cooking options for student life on the 27th!
After it’s popularity last month we’ll be doing another Tie Dye activity on the 13th! As we’ll have a lot more students this time round we ask that you please bring your own white garment or buy a top from us for $3! It’s great memorabilia of Byron Bay and your time at Lexis!
On the 21st we have Flavio coming in to teach some Skateboarding skills (for all levels!), and then Olmo the following week on the 28th for Slacklining! Both will be in the garden, no sign up required!
For our sports activities we have Cricket on the 7th and Volleyball on the 15th. Both will be in the garden or at beach depending on numbers and preference!
Our biggest sporting event will be the Soccer Challenge against SAE college on the 29th! We are the current champions so help us hold onto this title by signing up and competing for Lexis! This will be at Byron Bay Sports Fields at 3pm. Sign up at reception, kit (top) will be provided!
There will be a special 1 hour Surf Lesson for just $20 with Let’s Go Surfing on the 14th. Please come see me in reception if you’d like to book this!
Our monthly Table Tennis Tournament will be on the 20th.
On Friday the 22nd we’ll be Beer Tasting in the garden to get the weekend started!
We continue to have our Yoga classes every Monday, except the 4th because of the party!

Job Club is every Wednesday in Room 8 (with GIL). Myself or a teacher will be able to help you write resumes/cover letters, look for jobs, apply for TFN’s and give you advice on gaining your RSA or Barista license!
GIL (Guided Individual Learning) runs every day from 2-3pm in Room 8. Come along to get help with anything from homework to vocabulary to writing your resume.
We will also continue to enjoy our Student Nights at Cheeky Monkeys every Tuesday night – meet at BWT @ 8pm first to get your drinks, food and fun!

The students split into two groups; with Diego and Yuka making chicken enchiladas, and Kotori, Gustavo, Richard and Choi making beef tacos!
Meanwhile I made cheesy nachos with sour cream for them to snack on whilst they cooked!
Both of the finished results were delicious and the students enjoyed them together in the garden area 🙂

Welcome to our four new starters joining us at Lexis Byron Bay today!
Michele, from Switzerland, enjoys diving and Muay Thai. She also really loves the beach so is looking forward to spending lots of time there while she’s in Byron! After her studies she will then travel for 3 months and hopes to spend a week of this on a boat diving. She chose Australia for her studies because she finds it to be a very interesting and beautiful country!
Katjana, from Switzerland, loves skiing, volleyball, travel and photography. She has also been doing track and field since she was 14 and is a middle and long distance runner. She has just completed her diploma and apprenticeship as a carpenter, but wants to work as a flight attendant for a year before working for the police. She chose to study in Australia because she has always loved this country, with it’s beautiful beaches, waves for surfing and different wildlife!
Cleo, from Germany, enjoys climbing, reading and meeting up with friends! She is currently on her school holidays between year 11 and 12 and has come to Byron to improve her English ready for her upcoming A Levels. She is also really interested in learning about the Australian culture and making new friends whilst she’s here!
Kayo, from Japan, has been playing badminton since Junior High school and is now very good at it! She spent 2 weeks in Australia before and enjoyed her time so much she decided to come back here to study English. When she returns to Japan she would like to find a job where she can use her new improved English!

The lovely Gloria from Spain, who graduates from our Intermediate class. Her positive attitude and bubbly energy have been a joy to have here at Lexis! Her teacher Paul says she is a very intelligent student who picked up new English quickly and effortlessly. We’re very sad to see her go but hope she enjoys her travels and comes back to us one day!
