On Friday we enjoyed some Rugby practice!

We didn’t quite have enough players for a full game so instead we practiced our throwing, catching, tackles and scrums!

As there was no winning team the prize beer was shared between the students!

Everyone then enjoyed some delicious sushi prepared by Shogo and Aki!

August Activity Calendar!

Lexis Byron Bay has another great month of FREE activities for our students!!

August Calender

We have a few of our popular favourites on there and also some brand new activities!

Yoga classes on Mondays will continue; alternating between Stef and Fee each week, in Room 8.

Each week we have Coffee Lounge on Tuesday or Wednesday; most popular for the Tim Tams but also a fun way to practice English and make new friends!

Due to high demand we will be having a cooking activity EVERY week for the month of August! This starts with Pizza Making on the 2nd, followed by Spanish Tapas Making on the 10th, a Crepe Competition on the 16th and finishing with Mexican Cooking on the 24th!

To start the weekends we have some great Friday activities; beginning with Volleyball on the 4th, Cider Tasting on the 11th, Pizza and Games on the 18th and the new activity of Lawn Bowls on the 25th!

Our monthly Table Tennis Tournament to find August’s champion is on the 8th! Can Bruno be beaten?!

Flavio will be coming in on the 17th to teach some more Skateboarding skills!

To get creative we have Tie Dye on the 3rd; FREE top included but only 10 spots available so come sign up with me in reception quick (or you can bring your own white top and still participate)! Also Boomerang Painting on the 30th!

To end the month we have a Poker Tournament on the 31st with beer to be won!

We have our 1 hour Surf Lesson special for just $20 with Let’s Go Surfing on the 22nd. Please come see me in reception if you’d like to book this! You can also book a 3 hour lesson any day for just $50!

GIL (Guided Individual Learning) runs every day from 2-3pm in Room 8 (Room 7 on Mondays). Come along to get help with anything from homework to vocabulary to writing your resume.

Weekly Job Club is on Wednesdays with GIL in Room 8. Myself or a teacher will be able to help you write resumes/cover letters, look for jobs, apply for TFN’s and give you advice on gaining your RSA or Barista license!

We will also continue to enjoy our Student Nights at Cheeky Monkeys every Tuesday night – meet at BWT @ 8pm first to get your drinks, food and fun!

BWT also have some great weekends trips for you to book. See Shak at the travel desk in the Student Lounge on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 12.15pm to book!

New Starters! 31st July!

Welcome to our five new starters joining us at Lexis Byron Bay today!

Elisa, from Brazil, is an Elementary and High School teacher. She has been in Byron Bay for three days and is absolutely loving it! She feels the relaxed lifestyle really suits her personality. She chose to improve her English here in Australia because she thinks it is the most beautiful country to study, and we couldn’t agree more!

Oriol, is from Sabadell, a city near Barcelona, Spain. He loves the outdoors; whether it be walking, having drinks with friends or going to the beach! He also enjoys playing basketball and surfing; so Byron is definitely a great location for him! He is a physiotherapist at Sabadell hospital, which he loves as he gets to help people and improve their health. He doesn’t often have to speak English in his job but he still feels it is useful to have a high level of English, which is what brings him here to us for the next 12 weeks!

Aki, from Japan, lives near Mt Fuji with her family and dog. She has just finished studying pharmacy at University and in October will start working for a company developing new medicines. She needs to use English at her work so will study with us for the next 4 weeks to bring her level up. She loves sports and is looking forward to doing some yoga while she’s in Byron!

Arthur, from Brazil, is here in Byron Bay visiting one of his two daughters. She used to study here at Lexis 5 years ago and now works and lives here. She enjoyed her time so much she recommended that her dad study with us for a week while he visits!

Alberto, from Spain, chose to come to Australia to learn about other cultures, improve his English and enjoy the surf culture! His favourite hobbies are windsurfing and skiing. He is currently in his last year of school and would then like to study something related to the sciences, maybe pharmacy or biology!

Graduation! 28th July

Today we said farewell and good luck to ten Lexis Byron Bay students and see you soon to two more!!

Claudia

Beatriz, from Brazil, graduates from Claudia’s Advanced class. She worked hard in her studies and these efforts paid off as she greatly improved her English skills during her time here in Byron! Her enthusiasm and contributions to class discussions and activities were all greatly appreciated. Best of luck for the future and we hope see you again one day!

Silvia, from Italy, graduates from the Advanced class. Her teacher Claudia expressed how lovely it was to have her in class and that she should be very proud of the effort she put into improving her English. She was a conscientious student who always participated well in class discussions. We are sure you will do well in the future and wish you the very best with this!

Ferran, from Spain, graduates from Claudia’s Advanced class. His grasp of the English language is outstanding and he participated well in all class activities and discussions. It was a pleasure having him here at Lexis (for the second time!) and we hope we see him again next year!

Marta, from Spain, graduates from Claudia’s Advanced class. She has been a dedicated and hard working student and this has paid off with her improving her English in all areas! She has a great attitude and it was lovely having her here at Lexis! We wish you the very best for the future!

Isaure, from France, graduates from Josie’s Upper Intermediate class. She has been a keen learner and dedicated student. Her level of English is very high and something she should be very proud of. We hope you enjoyed your time at the school and on your surf lessons and wish you all the best for the future!

Zoe, from France, graduates from the Upper Intermediate class. Her teacher Josie says she’s been a great student and worked really hard to improve her English, which is at a excellent level! We hope you continue your studies and surfing!

Maria, from Spain, graduates from Josie’s Upper Intermediate class. Although she’s only been here 3 weeks she has put a lot of effort into her studies; she always contributed to class discussions with ideas and knowledge and this was greatly appreciated! We wish you all the best!

Maria Angel, from Spain, graduates from Josie’s Upper Intermediate class. She started at Lexis in our Pre-Intermediate class and in her 12 weeks here she has worked her way up to Upper Intermediate, graduating with a B! She has a lovely, cheerful, positive personality which will be very much missed in class and in the activities!

Michelle

Kumiko, from Japan, graduates from Michelle’s Elementary class. Her progress in the last 10 weeks has been outstanding! She came to Lexis with a very low level of English and is now one of the highest in her class. She has worked hard to achieve this and should be very proud of her progress! We hope you enjoy the rest of your time in Australia!

Francois, from France, graduates from Mel and Paul’s Intermediate class. His teacher Mel expressed what a joy it was having him in class, saying everyone enjoyed his humour and entertainment! Despite only being 13 he got along extremely well with his older classmates and made lots of friends in his time her at Lexis. He will be very much missed by all!

Paloma, from Spain, graduates from Mel and Paul’s Intermediate class. She is an absolute joy to have at Lexis and we’re all very pleased we’ll be seeing her again when she’s back to the IELT’s preparation classes! She is an extremely intelligent person who understands new grammar quickly and effortlessly. We’re glad this isn’t goodbye yet!

Kristy

Luke (Kyoung Lee), from Korea graduates from our Pre-Intermediate class. This also isn’t goodbye as Luke will be coming back to Lexis after a few weeks back home in Korea! His teacher Kristy says he been great to have in class, a really friendly student! His English pronunciation is excellent and his grammar and spelling have improved a great deal in his time at Lexis. Enjoy your trip and we look forward to seeing you again in September!

Whale Watching – BWT

This week some of our students went Whale Watching with BWT’s Shak!!

For those who don’t know… Between May and November each year Humpback whales migrate from their antarctic summer feeding grounds to their breeding and birthing grounds in the tropics in the East and West coasts of Africa, South America, Australia and towards the South Pacific islands. It is estimated that the number of Humpbacks that migrate up the East coast of Australia is around 17, 000!!!

With this amount of whales passing through Byron Bay you’re pretty much guaranteed to see one during migration season; at the beach, from the lighthouse and almost certainly on a boat trip!!!

When our students Valerie, Natsumi, Maria and Kotori went on Tuesday they whales, turtles and native birds!

Skateboarding! 25th July

Yesterday we had our Lexis activity regular Flavio ( Byron Bay Skateboard School ) stop by for an hour of skateboarding practice!

We had a mixed group of people who had never tried it before, some who had given it a few goes and those who clearly had quite a bit of experience (Beatriz and Eugene!)!

Almost everyone had a go on the ramp, even those who had never skated before!

Flavio comes to us once a month and will be here again on the 17th of August!

After 10 years working in the same big company Elena decided to take a seven month break; leaving her family, her friends and her flat in Spain she came to us here at Lexis Byron Bay to improve her life and her English. She says: ‘English is the language of the world and I thought that it was the best thing to improve my professional and personal life because some time ago I discovered that to travel is something that really made me happy’.

We are so glad Elena made this choice, it was an absolute joy having her at Lexis, a true beauty inside and out. She made many great friendships with both students and staff in her 6 months here with us and is sorely missed. For this reason we contacted her after she’d left us to go on her travels to ask a few questions about her time at Lexis, and being the amazing person that she is she was happy to oblige, answering the below for us from her terrace in Siargao, Philippines……………

Why did you choose Byron Bay?

I was born in a little village called Elche, in Alicante, in the south east of Spain but for the last 7 years I was living in Barcelona; I love this city and at the moment I don’t think I will change my home but when I started to think of this experience I wanted something totally different… and when I listened to the first words to describe Byron, I didn’t need to think more… it was my place to study English near the beach!! And it was a good idea because not only is the village quiet and you can live a relaxed lifestyle, our school is a similar place. The students and the staff are the same way!! No stress!!!

What were your weaknesses in English before you came to Australia?

Before I came to Australia for me it was impossible to think that I will be able to have a conversation in English for more than 10 minutes!!! Maybe I don’t look it but I’m so shy and before I came here I preferred to listen and not speak… because of this my first days in the school I was so serious!! In the first moment I didn’t like too much the games to speak to each other in class but after I understood that it was the best way to not be shy and everyday I was less shy and started to improve my English!! I remember my amazing teacher Georgie and her class of conversation in the garden!! It was my favorite after the first month!!! And now I have really good friends from other countries who I can only speak English with and our conversations are so interesting like if we speak in our mother language!

Tell me about your teachers and your classes…

In my 6 months in Lexis school I have had different teachers in different levels. My first teacher in the Pre-Intermediate level was the funny Naomi only for some days and the beauty Michelle after, and I finished my course with the amazing Josie in the Upper Intermediate level, but during these 6 months all my teachers were wonderful and I can’t forget our lovely Claire and her activities with Tim Tams or the manager Lisa that always helped me with all my doubts!!

What was your favorite activity?

If I must find a activity I can’t forget the last one… Playing twister with Josie and Naomi in the garden, it was one of my last days and a funny memory!!

Tell us about your accommodation…

My two first months I was in a homestay in Suffolk park, where I was living with another student also, my cute Pascal from Switzerland! For a girl like me, who was living in the center of her city before, it was a little far from town but my homestay was an amazing house and Jane, my Australian mum, is now one important piece of my Australian family and I know that I will see her again in my country.

And the last 4 months I was living in BBSA (Lexis’ on-site student accommodation); for me it was a good experience and the perfect way to meet a lot of people from different countries; you are speaking with people with different accents and you can discover different cultures!! There I found another Spanish-Catalan family and also a lot important friends that I will have in my life for a long time!!! Now we are preparing a big party all together in Europe!!!

What are your favorite things to do in Byron?

People who know me know that I’m happy cooking, going out with my friends, drinking beer in some nice place or on the beach… But in Byron I discovered that the thing that really makes me happy is walking on the beach and Byron Bay is perfect to do it because it has a lot of such beautiful beaches! And now I have my favorite place in the world and that is Broken Head beach, my homestay was close to this beach and more or less every day I was walking around this beach, I have good memories of those days. It can be stupid or difficult to understand but for me it is a magical place!

What is your most magical moment in Byron Bay?

I can’t speak only about one moment because I have a lot in my memory and always related to someone! Although I think that Byron Bay is paradise, I think also that paradise is not a place, it is a feeling and for me the magical thing that takes with me from there is the people that I’ve met. Now I have 3 new sisters and we remember our important moments together!! We shared the school, the home and the room also!! Hahahaha

What did you miss about the Lexis Byron School when you left – what made you come back? *(Elena left us for a short while to study at Lexis Sunshine Coast)

After the first month, more or less, Martina and me started to speak that maybe it was a good idea to change the village because six or seven month was too much time in the same place for this big country. I don’t want to say anything bad because in Sunshine Lexis school all the staff and the students were so lovely with us but I missed Byron and the school, I couldn’t imagine that I would miss the games where we speak all the time in the activities, also our fans in the hot summer!! I didn’t like be in a school like a real school with air conditioning! I missed the students without shoes and the breaks in the garden under the sun!! I think only I needed two or three days to write to Lisa and tell her that I wanted to come back. It was the best decision!!!

What is your advice for people who are thinking about enrolling at Lexis Byron Bay?

Do it! You can find all that you need there; if after 6 months I have enough English to travel on my own in different countries any person can improve all that they want!! And there you will find good friends for a long time! All these answers are only my feelings and my personal experience but I’m so happy to have lived my other real life there!! Do it!!

Gregory, from France, graduates from our Upper Intermediate class. His teacher Josie has expressed what a pleasure it has been to have him in class, saying he brought a lot of great energy and a positive attitude to every lesson. Koala Cupcakes! 19th July

Today at Lexis Byron Bay we made Koala Cupcakes!!

We started by baking delicious chocolate almond cupcakes……..

Then while we waited for these to bake we played scattergories and some Table Tennis doubles to pass the time!

Once the cupcakes had cooled we added our butter cream icing we had earlier prepared and made grey by mixing green, red and blue food colouring!

The last step was to decorate them to look like Australia’s native animal, the cute koala!

I think the students done a great job!!!

If you’d like to give it a try yourself here’s how!

Koala Cupcakes Recipe

INGREDIENTS:

For the choc-almond cupcakes:

1 cup self-raising flour

½ cup plain flour

1 cup raw sugar

4 Tbsp cocoa

½ tsp bicarb soda

Pinch of salt

65g butter, melted

1 cup almond milk

½ tsp vanilla essence

For the buttercream icing:

200g butter, softened

2½ cups icing sugar

Grey food colouring:
5 drops blue + 5 drops red + 2 drops green

1 Tbsp almond milk, as needed

For the koala decoration:

Desiccated coconut

Pink marshmallows

Licorice

Choc chips

DIRECTIONS:

For the choc-almond cupcakes:

Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celcius and line cupcake tray with cupcake papers.

In a large bowl, combine all dry ingredients and mix well. Mix in melted butter. Combine milk and vanilla together, then add to dry ingredients and mix well.

Spoon the mixture evenly between prepared cups. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a knife inserted in the middle of the cupcake comes out clean. Allow to cool on a wire rack for 15-20 minutes.

For the buttercream icing:

Using a fork, beat the butter until it is pale and fluffy.

Gradually beat in icing sugar, half a cup at a time.

Add food colouring and mix through well. Add milk, if needed to thin the mixture.

For the koala decoration:

Sprinkle the icing with coconut then assemble the features of a koala face – use pink marshmallows for the ears, licorice slices for the nose and choc chips for the eyes.

Wine Tasting! 14th July

On Friday we sadly sad farewell to two of our wonderful Lexis Byron Bay staff members!

Ellie, one of our fantastic teachers, is returning to England and Naomi, our amazing homestay co-ordinator, is travelling New Zealand and Asia before also returning to England!

As it was the last activity Naomi would be leading, after much consideration, she decided Wine Tasting would be a good option! She wasn’t wrong; it was a great way for herself and Ellie to end their time here at Lexis! And the students had fun too!!

They had 9 different bottles of wine to try, including White (Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay and Riesling), Rose (White Zinfandel) and Red (Shiraz, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and a Mixed Blend)!

Everyone marked down the score they would give each wine out of 10, the flavours they could taste and what they thought the price per bottle was. There was no clear favourite but the whites were definitely preferred!

Both Ellie and Naomi will be very sorely missed and we wish them all the very best for the future!!

New Starters! 17th July

Welcome to our four new starters joining us at Lexis Byron Bay today!

Gustavo, from Brazil, loves to travel and meet people from all over the world to learn about their cultures. This combined with his new hobby of surfing makes Byron Bay the perfect place for him to study! He has graduated as a production engineer and would like to improve his English so he is able to get a good job relating to this (and do some more travelling!).

Eugene is from Italy but has been working in Switzerland as an engineer. He choose to study English in Australia because he loves the lifestyle here and thinks it is a beautiful country (and he’s certainly not wrong!). He enjoys snowboarding and any other sports that involve a board, so he will no doubt be perfecting his surf skills whilst in Byron!

Valerie, from Switzerland, choose to study in Byron so she can also learn surfing whilst learning English! She enjoys many sports, including skiing, snowboarding, swimming, hiking and biking! She has just finished school and plans to spend the next year travelling and working, before studying Veterinary medicine at University in Bern.

Steven, from Germany, has just completed his Masters Degree in Industrial Engineering. His passions are sports and nature and last year he crossed the Alps with only his backpack and a tent!! He is wanting to improve his English to allow him to get a good job in the future and be able to communicate with people all over the world!

Today we say farewell to seven students graduating from Lexis Byron Bay!

Angelo, Switzerland, graduates from Claudia’s Advanced class. He achieved a grade A, which is something to be very proud of, particularly at such a high level! It was very well deserved as he is a dedicated and hard working student. It has been an absolute pleasure to have him here at Lexis, always smiling and friendly to everyone! We are sure you will do well in the future and wish you all the best!

Victor, from Mauritius, graduates from Josie’s Upper Intermediate class. He joins us here in Byron Bay for the second year in a row, to learn English in Byron alongside his surfing practice. He returned to his previous homestay family, this time bringing his friend along with him. His enthusiasm and interest have made you a great asset to his class. His level on English is excellent and will surely continue to improve. We wish you all the best for the future Victor!

Yanis, from Mauritius, also graduates from Josie’s Upper Intermediate class. His fantastic sense of humour has made a great addition to his class and he has participated in class activities and discussions confidently. He has also showed us his creative side in activities such as boomerang painting. We hope to see you again Yanis!

Beatrice, from Italy, graduates from Josie’s Upper Intermediate class. She also joined us to learn English and learn to surf on our Surf in Action course. She has been a delight to have at school, with her fantastic attitude to her studies. Meet the staff – Homestay Officer, Koko

You may have noticed a new face in the office, over the last few weeks. This is Kayoko (Koko) our new Homestay Officer.

Koko is taking over from Naomi, who sadly will be leaving Byron Bay next weekend to continue on her travels. Koko has already settled in really well and we are enjoying her positivity and enthusiasm in the office.

We asked her a few questions to introduce herself:

Where did you grow up?
We moved a lot when I was little so, many places in Japan plus Brazil for couple of years when I was 7.

2. Which languages can you speak?
Japanese and English.

3. Which countries have you visited?
America, Brazil, Thailand, India, Laos, Malaysia, England, Greece, Mexico

4. What do you love the most about your job?
I’m still new, so my experiences are still quite limited, but my colleagues are all super nice and it’s wonderful.
Also all the students I’ve been meeting from all over the world are so gorgeous, fun, nice, and I’m loving them. There is a great fun vibe to the school, it is a great place to work:)

5. What is your top English learning tip?
Get a boyfriend or girlfriend! If not, homestay is a great way:)

6. What have you always wanted to be?
Free!

7. Where will we find you at 11pm on Saturday?
In my jammies about to go to bed.

8. What about 8am on a Saturday?
Hopefully jogging up to the lighthouse.

9. Tell us something not to miss out on in Byron Bay…
Whales! If you are visiting here during June – Nov, you can see many whales migrating up north from the lighthouse walk; often mothers with their calves. It’s a great way to enjoy the beauty of Byron and spotting whales is so exciting. The best way to experience them is to go on the whale watching boat. You get to see them so close, and they are truly magical….

10. Which is your favourite restaurant/cafe in Byron Bay?
Kinoko for very good sushi. Miss Margarita and Cyprus Tree are very good too. Cardamon Pod and Heart and Halo for good cheap hearty meals.

11. What is your dream holiday destination?
There are so many… All the beautiful places in the world

A huge congratulations to Charlotte Bode who has just received her IELTS results.

Charlotte scored 8 overall with an incredible 9 in both the Listening and Reading sections. She also scored 6.5 for writing and 7.5 for speaking.

These results mean that Charlotte can follow her dream of coming back to Australia in a year or two to further her studies at University of Queensland.

Today 4 very friendly new students joined our Lexis Byron Bay family.

Kotori, from Japan, is a transfer from our Noosa campus. She will now study in Byron for 26 weeks and went straight into our Upper Intermediate class this morning.

Takako, from Japan, works as a nurse. She has come to Byron to learn English so that she can communicate with her international patients.

Maria, from Barcelona, joins us in Byron after studying in Brisbane for three weeks. She has always wanted to visit Australia so is really pleased to be here. After she has conquered English, she hopes to improve her French and then learn Italian so that she can speak an impressive 4 languages!

Gloria, is from Spain. She was born in Granada but now lives in Madrid, where she studies law, business and economics. She knows that fluent English will be very important for her future career, which is why she has decided to come here now. Although she is currently living in a hostel, Gloria is keen to move into a homestay so that she can experience the Australian culture and live with people who speak English full-time.

Danielle, from Brazil, graduates from Ellie and Claudia’s advanced class. Ellie and Claudia said how lovely it has been to have her in class! She has such a lively and positive attitude and she was a pleasure to teach. Danielle’s English has improved in all areas. Well done! I am sure you enjoyed your time here in Byron Bay and we wish you all the very best for your future.

Pedro, from Brazil, also graduates from Ellie and Claudia’s advanced class. Pedro joined us from Brisbane 5 weeks ago. Ellie and Claudia said how his calm and positive attitude made him a pleasure to have in class. He has been a very conscientious student and has a truly impressive grasp of English. He leaves us with an outstanding level of English and for this he should be very proud. Congratulations Pedro!

Gabriel, from Brazil, has been with us since January. He studied in Paul’s FCE class and received fantastic results in his Cambridge exams. He graduates from Ellie and Claudia’s Advanced class. All his contributions to class discussions have been greatly appreciated. It has been wonderful getting to know you and you will be truly missed by everyone here at Lexis. He is not venturing too far though, staying in Byron Bay to work and surf. Congratulations Gabriel; it has been a pleasure!

Louis, from France, graduates from Josie’s Upper Intermediate class after a spending a magical week in Byron learning English an surfing on our TAP program. Josie described how he was keen to learn, participated well and had a great attitude. She only wished she he could have stayed longer. We hope to see you back in Byron again before long Louis!

Elena, from Spain, graduated from Josie’s Upper Intermediate class, having been with us for a wonderful 24 weeks. She left us for a 2 week stint in the Sunshine Coast and though she enjoyed the experience she just couldn’t wait to come back to Byron. She has made fantastic progress, moving from Pre Intermediate to Upper Intermediate. Now she leaves us to explore Bali and the Philippines. She has become part of the furniture here at Lexis and we are terribly sad to see her go. Good luck with everything Elena!

Yesterday afternoon, students met in the kitchen to take part in our sushi challenge. Three teams, each with four or five students , competed to see who could make the best plate of delicious sushi.

Each team had a range of fillings to choose from including smoked salmon, tuna, crab sticks, avocado, carrot and tuna. They also each had a Japanese team member to show them the ropes.

Our new homestay officer, Koko, came downstairs to judge the three finished plates and she deemed Madoka’s team the winner based on taste, creativity and presentation.

Yesterday we were delighted to welcome 12 new starters to Lexis Byron Bay!

Silvia, from Italy, has actually been here in Byron Bay for two years already. She loves music and yoga and hopes to embark on a yoga teacher training course in September.

Beatriz, from Brazil, is studying English along with her studies in Physical Education and intends to become a personal trainer. As a seasoned surfer, she chose Byron for its beautiful beaches.

Francois, from France, has come to Australia with his family to get some extra English practice. In France, he loves to play handball and in the future he would like to pursue a career in trains!

Emkar joins us from a little town in the Basque country in the North of Spain. She enjoys writing and music and she studied psychology and has come to Byron to enjoy the culture and to improve her English.

Asier also joins us from the Basque country in the North of Spain. He has left the cool climate of his home town to explore the sites of Byron and Australia. He hopes that improving his English will allow him to communicate with people as he travels the world.

Nicolo, from Italy, enjoys rock climbing and surfing. In Italy rock climbing is very common as there are many mountains. Surfing, however, is not so common and Nicolo has come to Byron to practice surfing, as well as to improve his English.

Marta, from Spain, has been lucky enough to be granted a month to study English abroad by her employer. She plans to study and then to go onto explore Queensland before returning to Madrid.

Ferran, from Spain, returns to Lexis Byron Bay, having studied with us last year. He joins us again for one month of surfing and studying English, before returning to Barcelona to go to University to study joint honours in Journalism, advertising, public relations and marketing.

Louis, from France, joins us from Brisbane where he studied in a High school exchange program. He loves travelling and discovering new places and he chose Australia to study because the people are warm and open minded.

Isaure, from France, has come to Australia for her Summer holidays. She lives in Paris and chose Byron so that she could surf alongside her studies. She came to Australia two years ago and enjoyed it so much she has been keen to return ever since.

Zoe, from France, has come to Australia to practice her speaking and in particular to work on her accent. It is her first time in Australia – she has always wanted to visit for the beautiful beaches and great surf spots.

Rocio, from Spain, has also been granted the opportunity to study English abroad by her employer. She loves travelling and hopes to improve her English so that she has the freedom to move to a different city, such as London.
