Pol Celda Guell has been in Australia studying English with Lexis for 11 months, first at Lexis Noosa and more recently at Lexis Byron Bay for the past 14 weeks.
His English has improved dramatically during this time… when he first came to Australia his English was very basic but this week he will graduate at Upper-Intermediate level. Great work, Pol!
I spoke to Pol to find out more about his experiences at Lexis and his favourite things about Byron Bay.
Where are you from?
Barcelona, Spain.
Why did you come to Australia?
I have always wanted to come here since I was a child. I knew about all the animals and I always had the feeling that I wanted to come here.
What is your favourite thing about Byron Bay?
I like the ambience and attitude of the people. Lexis Byron Bay has a family feeling, everyone knows each other and spends time together.
How has your English improved at Lexis?
I have learnt a lot, I am more confident and people tell me I have improved so much. I keep expecting more – it’s good to have high goals!
What would you say to someone who is considering studying at Lexis Byron Bay?
If you are starting at a low level it’s very good because you have classes every day and afterwards in the activities you keep practicing English. You meet people and the teachers are very helpful, the teachers here have helped me so much. Also if you are preparing for an exam like IELTS it’s a good place.
What are your plans after you graduate from Lexis?
I will spend a couple of days in Brisbane and then I will go back to Barcelona. I have already travelled in the middle of my stay here, so now I am ready to go home.
How do you think English will help you in the future?
Of course it will help me a lot… for work, travelling, meeting people and being able to have meaningful conversations. There will be many opportunities…
Thanks for chatting with me Pol! We will miss you after you graduate this week, good luck for the future! 🙂
