What’s on this weekend in Byron Bay! 01-02-03 August 2014

You might need some downtime to recover from last weekend’s Splendour in the Grass, but if you still have energy to burn – there is plenty going on this weekend in Byron Bay!

The Byron Bay Writers Festival takes place this weekend with lectures, stand up comedy, book launches, debates, pitch events and workshops. There are plenty of events going on outside of the festival too – see http://www.byronbaywritersfestival.com.au/v2/index.php?Itemid=115 for more information.

Also, the Bangalow BBQ and Bluegrass Festival is on in Bangalow on Saturday – with plenty of live music, stalls and BBQ cook offs!

On Friday night, Dan Hannaford is at the Northern, Kellie Knight and the Daze are at the Rails, Luke & Sebastian followed by the Triple J’s at the Beachy, Cari Cari at the Buddha Bar and open mic & tapas at Aquarius.

On Saturday, Kyle Lionheart is playing at the Northern, local rocker Diana Anaid at the Rails, DJ Discrow at the Beachy and Inigo at the Buddha Bar.

Local band Potato Potato are also playing a free show at the Treehouse from 7.30pm.

On Sunday, Jesse Pumphrey is at the Northern, Kellie Knight and the Daze from 4.30pm at the Beachy – followed by DJ Captain Kaine at 8pm, and the karaoke world championships at the Buddha Bar from 6pm.

Writers at the Rails celebrates its 22nd anniversary at the Rails at 2pm, with guest Omar Musa – a fantastic hip hop artist and slam poet. Afterwards, Ree Nay will be on at 6.30pm.

The Byron Market is also on Sunday from 10am – with live music from Guy Kachel and Lou Bradley.
