What’s on this weekend in Byron Bay!!!!

Next week the school is closed for Christmas!! As you will have so much time to relax, you might as well go out with a bang this week!

Here’s whats on this weekend:

TONIGHT Aussie favourites Wolfmother are playing a FREE gig at the Brunswick Hotel – supported by local band Pilots! Playing from 8.30pm, this will be a big night!!

DJs and happy hour tomorrow night at the opening party for the Ginger Pig (at what used to be the Junction)

Also on Friday, Brisbane band Jack and the Giant Killers are playing at the Beach Hotel, from 9.30pm, the Von Villains at the Northern, The Ninth Chapter at the Rails and Brazilian bands at the Byron Bay Brewery.

On Saturday the Byron Community Centre is holding the vinyl launch for Headland Soundtrack from 7.30-8.30pm – a collective of local bands and performers creating a unique soundtrack to Super 8 surf footage of Byron Bay, Lennox Head and Broken Head from the 1970s – tickets are $20

Australian live roots act Fyah Walk are playing at the Byron Bay Brewery on Saturday…as well as My Xmas Byron Riot at the Northern, DJ Fonzaius at the Beach Hotel and Dawn Patrol at the Rails.

Head down to the Beach Hotel on Sunday arvo for a Sunday session with the queen of soul, Lisa Hunt from 4pm…followed by Sunday Safari at 8pm.

The Fire Tree are playing at the Northern on Sunday, and Romaniacs at the Rails and Aloha or Die at the Frankie Brown Cafe.

A little further afield – Round Mountain Girls are playing at the Brunswick Hotel from 4pm on Sunday arvo if you fancy jigging around to some fiddle, banjo or mandolin!

New Year’s Eve in Byron Bay!!!!

New Year’s Eve is fast approaching, and as always there is a lot going on in Byron Bay. If you want to go to a ticketed event, best to get in early and get your tickets so that you don’t end up sharing a bottle of whiskey with a homeless man on a bench!

The guys at the Byron Community Centre are hosting ‘Soul Street’ – from 2pm until 9pm on Jonson Street in Byron Bay – with live music, market stalls, circus performers, face painting, fire twirling, drumming and food… We will be doing a school excursion from 2pm to see whats going on!

Falls Festival is running from December 31st until January 2nd at the North Byron Parklands – tickets are sold out, but maybe you can try pretending to be a famous rock star and sneak in

If you weren’t lucky enough to get tickets for Falls – there are still plenty of awesome parties going on in and around Byron Bay.

The Byron Bay Brewery are holding a New Year’s Eve party featuring Spoonbill, Mista Savona, Electrik Lemonade and more – tickets are $49 pre paid and $60 on the door.

The Northern are holding their ‘Froth and Roll’ NYE party, with local band Waxhead, as well as Pilots, The Lovely Days and The Single Fins. Tickets are $25 and it all kicks off at 8pm.

The Rails is also ticketed for New Years, with performances by Simon Wright Band and Marshall Okell and the Pride – playing from 6pm, tickets are $25.

The Beach Hotel seems to be free entry (yippee!) with music from Rhythm and Cutloose, and local DJs…

A little further afield: the Beyond Byron funk – soul – house – dance party is being held at the Coorabell Hall on Coolamon Scenic Drive… Thai food, BYO alcohol and tickets are $35!

Also the Brunswick Heads record fair is at the Memorial Hall on Fingal Street from 31st December until the 4th January, from 10am until 6pm every day – if you feel the need to stock up on some vinyl for your own party!

Here’s what’s going on in Byron Bay this weekend!!

The Uplift Festival is running from today until Sunday at the Byron Bay Sports & Cultural Complex – tickets available at upliftfestival.com or from the Medicine Wheel on Jonson St. Featuring evolutionary leaders, scientists, visionary activists, indigenous elders, musicians and poets in a 4 day celebration of conscious evolution!

Feeling festive? Come down to Main Beach for Christmas carols on Friday at 6.30pm! Just don’t stand next to Lisa, your ears will never recover

Also on Friday is the Summer of Circus Cabaret show, at Circus Arts on the industrial estate – from 7pm, tickets are $5. There will be a sausage sizzle, bar and cafe, and $5 flying trapeze swings!

The most important thing going on this weekend however – is our new LEXIS STUDENT NIGHT at Cheeky Monkeys! Friday night from 7pm – Free entry, a free drink brought to your table, $5 meals and discounted drinks until 11pm!! A special area will be reserved for Lexis students, and Maya will be giving out wristbands at graduation on Friday.

Lots going on this Saturday – The Great Gatsby at the Byron Community Centre, local band Potato Potato are playing at the Byron Bay Brewery, The Cheynne Murphy Band at The Rails, the Equillus performance at the Byron Equestrian Centre in Ewingsdale and The Link dance event at Kulchajam!

And don’t forget the Christmas parties kicking off on Sunday – the Afends Xmas Party featuring Perth psychedelic band Pond; The Beach Hotel Christmas party with Caravana Sun and DJ Taya… as well as Sunday sessions at the Brewery, The Eatery, Treehouse on Belongil and the Poinciana Cafe in Mullumbimby.
