GV Byron welcomes new manager!

The GV Byron Bay family is happy to introduce it’s new manager – Rose Antaw. Rose has been teaching at GV Byron for a year and has over 10 years experience both teaching and managing in international education.

“ This is a dream job for me – not only do I get to enjoy teaching students and watching their English levels and confidence grow but I also have the exciting opportunity to apply my management experience  in caring for the GV Byron Bay campus – the world’s best place to learn English!”

What do you most enjoy about teaching at GV Byron Bay?

GV Byron has a really great atmosphere where all the students and teachers know each other and so students can get the attention they need. It also means that all the students can fit into one house to party together! The combination of amazingly beautiful beaches and mountains and the BIG LOVE at the school make it an awesome and fun place to work.

Tell us about a student in your class who you feel has made outstanding progress…

I think that every student has a period of outstanding progress while they are here. Sometimes it’s harder for them to recognise it for themselves, but as a teacher it is so rewarding to see – especially when students from all over the world are joking, laughing and talking together in English.

Which country have you most enjoyed visiting and why?

Australia –each new place makes me want to see more and more of this wonderful country. I also really loved Vietnam because the food is amazing! The people are really warm, friendly and relaxed, the landscape is beautiful … and the food! the food is delicious!

Do you speak another language and what was your biggest challenge when learning it?

I speak conversational French. The biggest challenge for me when learning French was having the courage to speak up – and not being afraid to make mistakes. What helped me was putting myself into situations where I had to speak to survive – having a job, travelling by myself and of course, lots of red wine!

What do you like most about living in Byron?

Byron has a lot to offer – but for me it’s the music and arts scene that makes it special. There is always free entertainment somewhere in town which keeps the place positive and alive.

SOCCER !!!!

Hey Everyone!!

We are going to run soccer matches every Thursday evening from now on. Get down to the Byron Fields at 5:30pm on Thursdays and come and play with some local Byron soccer stars!

This is a great chance to meet new people, practise your English and of course become soccer superstars!

Meet at the Byron fields at 5:30. Bring shoes and a smile!
