Our people. Mariana!

Mariana leaves us today which is very sad as she has been such a wonderful contribution to the school. She has been with us since the 6 of December 2010 and leaves us today after 2 months worth of study.

Mariana had the following to share with us about her life and her experience with us here at GV Byron Bay.

Hi, I’m Mariana, a 21 year old student from Brazil, where I live with my parents and four siblings. In Brazil I study medicine (I’m jut about to start my fourth year). I really enjoy sports, such as volleyball and swimming and of course, I love going out with my friends.

I choose to come to Australia because I need to have a good grasp of English because I am studying medicine.  Most of the texts I have to read and study are written in English and so English is essential for me.

I particularly wanted to come to Australia because of this and the fact that I really wanted to improve my English for my own life. The weather in Byron is beautiful and I love living on the beach, as in Brazil I live inland.

I have been studying in the Upper Intermediate class with my wonderful teacher Rose. I would really like to thank Rose, she is a great teacher, patient and very knowledgeable and obviously puts a lot of effort into her teaching. Her classes are fun, and really well thought out.

I’ve also really enjoyed living in Byron. It’s a beautiful place and the people are very gentle. I have had lots of fun experiences here, from sky diving to surfing, swimming. My two favourite places are Clarks Beach (during the day) and the Beach hotel (at night!)

Thanks Mariana. On behalf of GV I wish you all the best in your endeavours. Have a safe flight and keep in touch!
