Music Guide….what’s on in Byron this weekend

We are coming up to the Splendour in the Grass Festival….(thanks Dave for getting work for several lucky students at the Festival). More and more big name music acts will be playing around Byron in the weeks leading up to the Festival but for now here is some of what is happening on the music scene this weekend.

Friday Night

At the Beach Hotel you can catch Diaspora Latina from 9.30pm. (FREE)

Diaspora Latina cooks and sizzles; serving up a unique mix of of sensual and rhythmic songs from the ex Portuguese & Parissa-Bouas[1]Spanish colonies of Latin America & Africa: Cuba, Brasil, Cape Verde… Songs made famous by: Buena Vista Social Club, Cesaria Evora, Gilberto Gil, Lila Downs, Susana Baca, Sergio Mendes in many different styles including the salsa and the samba! If you love dancing and latino sounds, this is the night for you!

At  the Rails Hotel it’s Round Mountain Girls from 7pm. (FREE). Why not do what the locals do and catch the early act at the Rails and then head off to one of the other venues for the later performances.

At The Great Northern Hotel catch COG. These guys are awesome and although there will be a cover charge they are 00[1]well worth seeing if you like your music loud and sweaty. They have palyed at some big festivals and events in Australia including “The Big Day Out”.
